Buell No More

Fri Oct 16, 2009 5:04 am

Harley Davidson, world famous manufacturer of boat anchors called motorcycles, has dropped the Buell brand and also wants to sell MV Agusta.

Although I was never a big fan of Erik's creations it was at least an attempt to produce a sports bike in the US.

Sad day indeed!

They were starting to make some good bikes like the 1125 R and CR. A big pity is all those going to loose their jobs!

Another page in Harley's annuals and another display in the museum.

Quite interesting. HD bought Buell while the economy was booming, and now that it's slacking, it's hard to get customers who have an extra $10k+ for a motorcycle. One local HD dealer went under here a few weeks ago. 5 years ago it was going gangbusters.

Last year the Harley Davidson dealership was booming because the bad economy hadn't reached up here, we had very had gas prices and a HD still got 45 MPG. They where brining up a lot of unsold stock from the lower 48 to meet demand. I don't this this summer will be as good.

As far as the crotch rockets go, it is sad to see a brand die, but ones arse shouldn't be the highest point on the bike.

I am surprised people spend the money for the 3 days a year they can ride a Harley in Anchorage.

They should have dumped the HD range and kept Buell, at least they half pretended to be motorcycles.
After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...
