Explain My UFO Sightings (and Share Yours)

Mon Oct 19, 2009 3:46 pm

Hi  Smile

Whenever the subject of UFO's comes up I state that I have seen 3 already. Considering that the chance of them actually being extra terrestrials on recon mission is pretty slim I'm wondering how you all would explain them:

- The first was a simple light in late afternoon light. Moving in a straight line about the speed of a high flying plane but I couldn't convince myself it was a plane. It looked just like the ISS (light intensity, speed) passing but ISS wasn't launched yet back then.

- The second were in fact 3 or 4 object flying in V-formation at night, at 2 or 3 am in the summer. I was not sober at all but they got me very very excited! The shape was a bit like F117's and they passed very very fast. No sound at all so they weren't planes. The first thing I thought was it were birds but the shape didn't really fit and I didn't see the wings moving. Also, considering the speed the birds must have been very very low, hence making wing motion visible. Oh, the seemed to be grey, they were lit up a little bit by the city lights.

- The third also a light dot but this one moving very very slowly, much slower than a plane. It was short before sundown. Oh god, how I was wishing to have binoculars when I saw that one! I'm guessing a weather balloon for that one. The dot remained visible for 15 minutes or so, moved in a straight line from approximately West to East. I lost sight when it was approaching the horizon.

So, who can convince me that the 1st was a plane, the 2nd birds and the 3rd a balloon or something?

And if any of you have sightings, please share  Smile

Cheers,
jan

I saw something like that around early May last year. It was like 3 bright orange lights in a triangle sort of shape. It was moving very fast aswell but I was inside at the time so cant say if it made a sound or anything like that. Im 100% certain it wasnt a plane arriving or departing from DUB because i was looking at a plane when I saw this "thing". To this day I still have no idea as to what it was.

Hmm, not family of what I saw since those had no light at all.

Could it have been a reflection on your window maybe? Or if the weather was bad maybe a ball lightining like this one?

Mir? This is off topic, but I was at a presentation by an astronaut the other day talking about the ISS and I felt really old because I remember seeing animations of the station talking about it and thinking that it would be a long time before it was finished.

It could've been the Hubble telescope. Seen it lots of times, in the right conditions it looks just as bright as the ISS.

There's several programs out there that predict satellite sightings.

I had a similar experience while stargazing. I was looking through my binoculars and something exactly like you described passed through my field of view. This was a few days after 9/11 so I thought they were B-2s, but I've heard them and seen them as well. Plus that didn't make sense at all considering I was in Mexico at the time and they were flying southbound.

Sure enough the next morning I see some seagulls flying in the exact same direction, altitude and speed as to what I saw the previous night.

I saw many of those out in PRC. Last one I saw must've been ridiculously high since it took over 2 hours for it to go from horizon to horizon.

I've yet to see a "flying object" that truly leaves me baffled and confused. I just know too much about "flying objects".  Silly

About five years ago, while I was still living in PDX, I was driving from Vancouver, Washington to downtown on I-5. It was in the evening. I saw two lights in the sky ahead of me coming from the south. I really didn't think anything of it at first, because that is a normal flight path for anything coming from the south. Also, at that time, there was an Air Guard detachment flying F-16s out of PDX. But, these two balls of light were moving really fast. By the time I got downtown, they were over Mt Hood. One stopped. The other seemed to circle underneath it to the north of it, then circle around underneath it back to the south of the first ball of light. They just sat there, in the sky near Mt Hood for a few minutes, then were gone. I looked on Craigslist later that evening, and others around the Portland area had seen it as well, so it was not just something reflecting on my window. I thought it was cool!

Long, long ago, when I lived in PDT, we would drive through the desert at night between there and PDX. There is a bombing range out there between Arlington and Boardman and a lot of open range land as well. There were always military craft from Tacoma, Spokane and Portland practicing all the time. What I saw over Mt Hood was NOT military.

Man, you must be really old! I had a similar experience the other day when someone was talking about the George Bush administration on the news. I realized that I actually remember what it was like to have him in office and that is just crazy! I'm really getting on in my years!

About two years ago I saw a white dot crossing the night sky. It appeared very high and made no sound. A quick check at heavens-above.com took all the mysticism away: It was the ISS.

Last year while on short final to MEM I saw saucer a saucer-like 'thing' hovering very low over the ground. Checked Google Earth and turned out to be the VOR station.

Once, when driving back from my Uncle's house over the Dechmont Hills (close to Dechmont Law which is already famous for another UFO sighting) I saw this object hovering in the sky above a mound of earth. It was about 10pm and it was still very light so I could see it clearly. It was perfectly circular and had a similar shape to two dinner plates, one on top of the other. As we drove closer it suddenly shot straight up into the Sky and out of sight.

Apparently two days later, scorch marks were found on top of, and on the side of, this mound of Earth.

I've also seen objects in the sky that don't belong there, as they're too low to be aircraft in this area and they don't make the same noise.

Several months ago I went out late at night to check the horses and noticed a couple of helicopters, maybe three to four miles away, hovering quite low. When I came back up ten minutes later they were still there, only a bit nearer now, so I paid them more attention. Wondering what they could be doing over a rural part of North Devon, I then wondered why I couldn't hear them, especially with the wind coming from the North West which was exactly where they were hovering. No lights flashed - there were no beacons, just two white and what looked like a third red light on each, and they stayed there until I got bored and cold and went inside for a cuppa. I'm used to lots of helicopter operations overhead, Dartmoor is on the doorstep of my family house, so we frequently get Chinooks and Seakings etc.. low overhead for training - at that distance I'd expect to hear something at least, which was what I found odd.

On the subject, there was an interesting document released under the freedom of information act, which detailed a spate of UFO reports in the Westcountry many years ago. A major investigation was carried out as the sources who had seen the unidentified lights and object were the likes of Military brass and Policemen, with the conclusion being that the object was indeed unidentified and that it posed a threat to national security.

I've had two 'experiences'.

First was in 1999, during the New Years Firework show in OKC. During the middle of the show I looked vertically and saw a lime green circle just floating in the sky at maybe 900ft AGL. Moving very slowly, it was a perfect circle too, with the center cut out. If it was making sound, I didn't hear it -- but there were also fire works. I have never been able to explain that one.

Second was a few years ago, near Christmas time. I was doing my homework, and happened to look outside the window, I saw a bright blue light stationary a few miles to my south. At first I thought it was the police helicopter doing training, as they normally do near where I live. It stayed stationary for a few seconds, maybe 15-20, at about 3,000AGL...then all of the sudden it dropped straight to the ground, took maybe 2 seconds to go from that altitude to the ground. My view of it was obstructed by trees and other houses as it was dropping. I then went outside, thinking maybe it was a plane crash. Turned on the news a few minutes later, nothing. Turned on the radio, nothing about it. Still have no clue what that was about.

Not ready to call either of those ET ships. But both are unexplainable.

In September 1970, while flying a Piper Comanche from Detroit to Morristown at night on an IFR flight plan, I observed a dull white band of light at my altitude, about 3-5 miles off my 9 o'clock position, with a slightly brighter light rotating around the perimeter. I watched this display for about one or two minutes then called ATC for info as it was a potential collision hazard. ATC advised that they had been observing the object for the same time, had no other flight plans filed, and were scrambling two fighters from Wright-Patterson to check it out. On hearing this, I turned on all the lights on the plane to their brightest in hopes that the AF guys would see me and not they hit me. As they approached at very high speed, the object just simply went vertical like an elevator at incredible speed. The AF guys chased it for a few seconds, then turned away back to their base. There was no further contact from ATC with regard to this incident.

Interesting. I'd guess that some of the things we see are US Air Force "black" aircraft programs, but not all of them however.

Thankfully, I've not had any sightings - don't want to either. In my line of work, seeing things like that and talking about them could be very bad for your career prospects.

The 1989 Belgium sightings (and attempted intercepts by F16) are probably the best example that these things are real.

I one night saw a round disk, with red and blue lights alternating all around and I was a little scared being a small child at the time . I do live in downtown Houston and planes fly over my house over all the time. but this object just floated there. Could it have been a passing WN 737 or an alien spacecraft

Id revise that 'some' to 'most', and the remainder to non USAF projects. Check this out

I dont know about flying saucers, but you can be sure all sorts of UAV's are still being tested today to be used in the war against terror and to spy on wannabe nuclear superpowers for example.

Probably. Chances are if the government told us what black projects they have, we'd never believe them anyway.

That's a very well know incident here in Belgium indeed, I remember there was a frenzy of UFO sightings here in 1989 and 1990, even to the point we started to have UFO spotting tourism. Unfortunately, I didn't witness anything myself back then.

When everything went back to normal, the F16 UFO chase was largely being used to have a laugh at our Air Force  Smile

Similarly and rather slapstick, around the same time (maybe even the same sighting) we have had policemen in their minivan chasing a UFO and being dead serious about it!

Nevertheless, coming from a reliable source, this remains a mystery indeed, this youtube video is well worth seeing. Apparently our F16's even had a lock on the UFO's. Also they were more than once spotted on radar, doesn't this more or less exclude them being Stealths?

Not necessarily. There are a ton of things that make a stealthy plane not stealthy. Wet conditions, oddly shaped things attatched to the aircraft such as stores or possibly instrumentation, if the plane had their own radar on (the F-16s may have noticed that though), having the gear down, and God only knows what sort of configuration they may have had. Or the plane could have been a testbed that may not have had RAM applied or something like that.

And perhaps it isn't out of the question that the stealth they may be developing may not be radar stealth.

The same thing happened over southern Illinois several years ago. Two or three different police officers from several departments all saw a UFO.

Well, I dunno if this helps, but the Oregon ANG F-15's depart to Mt Hood a lot, and do "laps" around the mountain.

In the summer of 1990 I saw a formation of 3 triangular shaped flying objects in the north of france (Normandy). They had three permanent orange lights in a trangular shape (no strobes, no blinking), were flying with no detectable sound (there was almost no noise from the environment, no cars and such) and very fast.

I know. ANG does a lot of interesting flying. But, this was completely different. One was simply hovering just south of the mountain and the other circled around it. They both were hovering for a time after that. Also, I could see both of the lights the whole time.

Ive only saw them once before & that was a couple of months ago. If anyone saw them without knowing they were Chinese lanterns they probably would be a bit worried.
