PP Clinic Director Quits After Watching Abortion.

Tue Nov 03, 2009 2:16 pm

When I was a freshman in highschool, decades ago, they sent us home with permission slips to get a parent signature to watch a late term abortion video in my Biology class. I'll never forget hearing the fetus make noise when the procedure took place. In extreme cases, I am an advocate for abortion, but stupidity isn't one of them. Anyone else experience something similar?

Odds Sotomayor will affect Roe v. Wade?

You mean all the other "Directors" gather round and high-five each other and cheer every time someone has an abortion?

I'm very pro-choice, but I have witnessed a late-term abortion and I didn't like it one bit. It made me very anti-abortion, at least after the first trimester.

So why am I anti-abortion and pro-choice at the same time? Because I'm not 100% sure I'm right. And I *AM* 100% sure that I don't have the right to dictate morality to someone else through my vote or political action. And so I oppose any attempt to limit Roe v. Wade.

But I do wonder about these abortion docs who seem to make a point out of doing these late-term abortions. A few of them seem to actually enjoy it, and that makes me very uncomfortable.

But even if you are hard-core anti-abortion, the BEST THING you can do is donate to Planned Parenthood. As the name of the organization implies, PP wants every child to be a wanted, planned child. PP does a lot more than abortions. They provide valuable sexual health and contraceptive services that prevent pregnancy in the first place. That will reduce abortions.

I doubt it. I think Roe V. Wade for all the arguments against was based on sound reasoning of a person's individual rights, and where a woman's indivual personal choice diverged from that of a fetus.

The court back then was more conservative than it is now, and made a fairly substantial ruling that has withheld 30+ years of lower court rulings.

I agree with this.

I personally agree with about most all of the Pro-Lifers arguments on abortion. However I am not going to take an individual's choice on the matter away, no matter how much I believe it is the wrong one.
Just because Roe Vs Wade allows a woman to make a choice about her body, it doesn't mean a person has to choose an abortion.

Never watched one, and never wanted too. As I posted in another thread, 9 months ago I saw my son's heart beat at 6 weeks. I now hold him in my arms every day. i just can't imagine choosing an abortion, neither can my wife.

That being said though, there are valid reasons people have an abortion. Rape, threats to the Mother's health, and serious issues that will not allow a child to survive out of the womb being some of the reasons. I believe in the right to choose, and that those that weigh the decision heavily will make the choice that they can live with.

I believe late term abortion should be banned, but the right of a woman to abort during the first trimester should remain legal. My concern is also that an abortion ban may force a woman to even give birth to a kid that was conceived in rape or if the mother's health is at stake (e.g. like the case in Costa Rica, where the government banned a Nicaraguan mother the right to abort the child conceived by her 6 year old daughter from a rape she suffered).

Exactly. Abortion sucks. Anytime a woman has to make such a choice, it isn't an easy one. But who the hell am I to tell a woman what to do with her body. In fact, I am of the mind that men should have absolutely no say in the abortion debate.

Absolutely. France probably has the best access to, promotion of and education about birth control of any country in the world and has seen its abortion rate remain stagnant over the years because of it. Planned Parenthood is one of the best organizations out there at making sure women (and men) are doing things the safest, healthiest way possible.

I think it is kind of like Kevorkian with all the assisted suicides. They are trying to make a point. It is sort of like Dr. Henry Morgentaler up in Canada who almost single-handedly guaranteed a woman's right to chose through a series of cases he took to the Supreme Court.

I thought it was common knowledge that women absolutely love having abortions.
