College Football: Weis Out At ND; Bowden From FSU

Tue Dec 01, 2009 2:56 am

Two big coaching vacancies open up as the '09 season rolls to a close. As expected, Charlie Weis got the ax at Notre Dame, and Bobby Bowden is retiring from Florida State.

Both are historic programs that have been on the outs for at least a couple of years now, and need new blood. Anyone have any guess as to who those jobs will go to?

The floor is open.

First off, Jimbo Fisher is the replacement at FSU, it's been known for a couple years now he would succeed Bowden, as he was associate head coach along with his DC duties.

Weis deserved to be fired. UND is not the force it once was. It may never be again, IMHO. Even the schedule needs to be overhauled completely. You can't compete as an independent and win, period. Penn State used to go to whatever bowl they wanted back in the day ('60s, '70s and '80s) as did Piit and other eastern schools. That time is gone now. UND really should join a conference in the real world of college football, not their dream world with NBC every home game and playing anyone they want.
It's a Great Day for Hockey!
