Is This A Good Deal On A Computer?

Tue Dec 15, 2009 12:12 am

OK so my 3 year old DELL inspiron laptop dies on me last week, while I did fly with it every 2 weeks for the last 2 and half years I don't think it lasted that much, so I will go ahead and admit that I'm reluctant to buy DELL again, do you recommend any specific brand in terms of laptop computers?...I'm looking for just a regular computer to run office type applications on it and log in to a.net hehehehhehe.

Yesterday I was at a bestbuy and saw these two deals....to me they looked like a good deals but wanted to see if anyone can recommend them or have any other suggestions.

I haven't computer shopped in a few years... while that Acer is cheap there are a few specs that stand out to me that turn me off. It weighs in around 6 pounds, which is on the heavier side (though not awful) and the quoted battery life is pretty craptastic (2.5 hrs). My Dell when new was good for 4-6 hours depending on what I was doing by comparison (granted after 2.5 years the battery is pretty much shot).
