What else is there to say? A useless magazine has named a useless but unfortunately powerful man as person of the year. Moving on with life...

I've never understood the furor over Time's Person of the Year. I fail to see how it really means anything to anyone (except to Time's head honchos).
I'm watching Jeopardy. The category is worst Madonna songs. "This one from 1987 is terrible".

I think it's a good choice. Whether you agree with his decisions or not, they have probably impacted the lives nearly everyone in western world.

You know what, the thing to realize is this award is practically worthless and I could really care less who wins it. Other than that, Bernanke has a lot on his plate with the current recession being the worst in 3-4 decades. Even though he is powerful and wealthy and whatnot, the fact is, you gotta have respect for somebody who is trying to get this country back on the right track economically. I don't agree with some of his views, but at the same time, I sure as hell wouldn't want be in his position.

Also TIME doesn't necessarily pick someone who was outstanding or even good as the person of the year, which makes people mad about the pick but it is usually a pretty well rounded decision.

They did declare Hitler TIME Person of the Year once. Even "Uncle Joe" aka Stalin got that "honour", and he got it twice.

Putin got it on 2007, he is not necessarily bad (that depends on point of view) but he has done some very ruthless things in his life.

Not to be an ass, but we all think most presidents are morons who do not deserve the position, and almost every president the US has had in the 80 years has made the list.

Are they people of the year? Certainly not all "good" people of the year. Same reasons, Hitler, Stalin, Gorbachev, Ayatollah, Sadat, and Khrushchev were chosen.

To me, being Time's "person of the year" only says youre an idiot, a dictator no one likes, or a Facist SOB.

Let them give it to the guy who doesnt really care the world economy is in the shitter.

My $.02

Hitler; Stalin; Khomeini. All won the award. It's not a popularity contest, like Sarah Palin at the local Walden Books store. It's on who had a large impact, for better or good, on the world. And no doubt, Bernanke is in that category, what with the economic collapse that began late last year.

So are you arguing Hitler and Stalin, etc. had a "better" or ''good'' impact on the world?

Yeah, Time is a useless magazine. It's amazing the amount of uninformative crap they publish.

Even BusinessWeek is better.
