Complaining About A Job/managers By Writing In A..

I want to write a full review of the worst slave driving company in the world. But Am I legally allowed to give my opinion and to show some secret recordings of how the managers act?
I only did 2 videos on my camera phone and recorded 30 mins audio.

What would be the worst thing to happen if I told people about the company?

It's a Temping job position that most people walked out of because of the terrible regime

I don't think it's legal unless you have their authorisation. When working for a company, you don't have the right of freedom of expression, trust me I know this by receiving a written warning and losing my winter placement from what I wrote about the 'merge' between two companies. Being a temp, they will instantly dismiss you and only give you a reason that your assignment has been completed or you are no longer needed. Be careful if you still want to be working into the New Year.

It's ok, I wouldn't want to work for them again...
I walked out this evening.

Lets say this...The Team Coach Implemented a Bingo Game to make us Key Town names faster
She said Cockermouth

Other manager keying in entries laughed, chatted to other temps laughed at the word again, the temps made funny remark and she carried on the remark taking it further and laughing.
I looked round at them and laughed, then Team coach went up to her laughing saying "what?" and she continued to laugh
other temps laughing and looking at each other
She then loooks at me because i looked at them again and I got told off...
3 weeks of being told off for turning my head to look at the clock for split second to see time for the break I get told off...Apparently she says, I'm not allowed to take my eye off the screen for 1 second...for an entire hour...
Then when I get really good typing speed she only says aim higher

Thankfully my busines is picking up and I have my first paid wedding on monday...
I've had abour 26 jobs and this one has to be the worst temping job...

Good Idea, though I suppose the only footage i have is coming back 30 seconds late and them moaning about that...
It's extremely Petty...Especially when they already send you on break late and then moan at us for coming back 30 secs late...

Nothing unless you expose trade secrets or violate any terms of any contract you have signed.

Where I would worry is that this company exposes you and it will be hard to find a job in a similar industry. People hate whistleblowers even if you do it with the best of intentions and any future company will fear you doing the same to them.

I suspect they are not the "worst slave driving company in the world". You are free to write what you want about them, but you had better be prepared to back up any claims you make in case they decide to take legal action for slander, harassment or defamation.

What, for the special report about companies that are mean to their employees? Unless you have proof they are doing something illegal, the media isn't going to be interested in your story.

I did get in on the fun until the head coach argued at me for looking round at them when they laughed again....she seems to be the strictest...she even moaned to the other managers wandering why her team is at the bottom of the statistics...
Maybe I should just write a letter to the Head of that shift as he seems more laid back.
And let any students know about the time I had

From the sounds of it, you have a dictator managing your team, and she doesn't understand how to really motivate a team properly, or has other problems.

This kind of super strict and aggressive behaviour doesn't encourage high morale in workers, it also encourages workers to cover up mistakes (for fear of abusive/violent repercussions). It might also cause poor performance of the team.

Yes! I think so too...even the big shift boss came up to her the other day talking about a massive increase in errors...and another coach mentioned something about morale is good in his team to her...
Another reason I got annoyed was at their noisy attitude through the week, the managers even sat there chatting about a beauty salon and what curry they want to book for their dinner...no wonder i'm looking at them

Seriously if this is your worst complaint count yourself lucky.

I'd only go public with a job complaint if they were doing something illegal or dangerous. Nearly every company has at least some dumb unpleasant folks in managment that is hardly groundbreaking.

If you go public with something like this be prepared to be treated like a leper by any potential future employer. Who wants to hire a whiner.

Exactly! I'm not a whiner like the above poster...
From the very beginning with the Agency Falsley Advertising a higher Hourly Wage and continued to re-post at this rate even after I telephoned them about the Wage and them saying it was a mistake.
To other things like making us believe we weren't allowed to the toilet until our hourly eye break, I managed to ask another manager if we were allowed, which we were.

Do you have any ombudsman type offices you could go to? Or employment relations/industrial relations offices you can complain to? I'm not sure what kind of laws you have in the UK, but here in Australia - this kind of thing doesn't go down very well at all.

I'm very lucky to have worked with some very thoughtful, caring and perceptive managers so far in my career - and you know what, my old manager where I used to work (in fact, the old workplace in general) we still catch-up over the Christmas dinner.  Smile I don't have a bad word to say about them.

I guess I haven't said anything Libel? so I'll give a clue, they already are being investigated by panarama but on the post man side, not the data entry side...but it's exactly the same principle...

That's unfortunate that you have to put up with that. I feel your pain. Sometimes, the head honcho where I work can be a real tight-wad. That person is known for chopping other peoples' heads off whenever they make an error. I've had it happen to me a few times. They told me I screwed up something. I was about to say that I didn't realize I did that and I was about to apologize, and they cut me off, yelling, "I don't want to hear it! You were here long enough to know what has to be done!"

Heh, my former supervisor came to me and told me that he's sick of the way the director talks to some people...

I know that your situation is a bit different from mine, but still I think the issue is middle management basically laboring under the delusion that they can do whatever they want, and whenever they want to their employees...

Sure they should but in the appropriate way.

It is also important to pick your battles if you run off to tattle outside of the chain of command for every little thing you are going to develop an unpleasant reputation.

Employers want employees with good judgement who are going to know when to handle something themselves and when more drastic measures are needed.

The only time taking a complaint public outside of the company would be appropriate is if you have reported a serious safety or legal issue internally through the proper channels and the complaint was ignored.

Why even work there? Find another job before moving on.

This may be a waste of time. The main manager is obviously the core of the problem perhaps. I would suggest taking a deep breath, and let them run a bad company. Bad companies either have to get better to survive, or they fail like many others.

Its partly government owned and the actual post men were going on strike for a similar strategy, Being made to walk routes that a Marine couldnt even do (They tested this on an investigative Documentary last week on the BBC...It seems the same for the offices...Straining blood out of a stone

If you're a temp and you really don't like it (more than you dislike being out of work, as in this economic climate, that's probably the alternative), quit*. They can release you at a day's notice, but you can leave at a day's notice; it's one of the few benefits of being a temporary worker. They owe you nothing, as they're not your actual employer. Tell your recruitment consultant (if you're with an agency) what the problem is, and if it's a genuine issue they'll understand and try to find you more work. You'd be better just to quit rather than to get fired.

*unless you have poor qualifications, in which case be thankful you have a job at all
Have you ever felt like you could float into the sky / like the laws of physics simply don't apply?

Heck, even those with exceptional qualifications can't find employment. I think I'm proof of that (along with several other folks I'm sure)! I have a background in planning/GIS and I'm in the field of healthcare/nursing technically...
