Self Gloss: I Passed My CDL Tests

Fri Jan 01, 2010 1:41 am

From 12/14 -12/31 2009, I attended Roadmaster Drivers school to obtain my CDL Class A. Class A means I can drive a tractor trailer. I did this to become more mature and better myself. I went through their schooling and passed all my tests with scores of 80% or better. I am off to orientation with US Xpress Enterprises on January 16th.

Good luck with that.

I got laid off 2 weeks ago, when my company folded. On to other things I guess.

This is very good news. You worked hard and achieved success. I wish you a lot more of the same in the future, doing what you like doing!

Hey, I passed my 2.5 to 5.0-ton stake truck license. I can now drive a truck up to 5 tons capacity. See ya on the road, honk honk.

Congrats and best of luck with orientation. Just be careful out there. Lots of imbeciles on the roads!

Man, that really has to suck! Any other prospects in your area for local or city P&D, or are you looking more for linehaul? Seeing as you were laid off, I'm assuming a company driver. We have very few US based company drivers, but the ones we DO have would never consider giving up their runs. I hear "John Boy" pays pretty good, if you can tolerate some of their ludicrous "entry level" runs, like the Detroit to Windsor and back. Pain in the butt doing nothing but border crossings all day. Perhaps Walmart? Their drivers are doing pretty good from what I hear. At any rate, with your credentials, I'm sure you'll find something up your alley soon.
We're doing pretty good as a company, and we have a diverse customer & commodity base, so we seem to be doing pretty good. Tons of freight from east to west, but mostly empties coming back west to east. Out of 8 wagons I hauled east bound, 7 were empties... As this is Monday, I had 2 loaded wagons west bound, and, yup, you guessed it... 2 empties coming east bound

Everyone who drives anything bigger than the average 4-wheeler will agree when I say some should not be on the road. I find myself doing traffic checks @ every intersection and it has paid off more times I know.
