Scattered light snow flurries were reported across Central Florida this morning, according to the National Weather Service Office in Melbourne.
Weather spotters across the region reported rain mixing with light sleet and snow flurries from Melbourne west to Kenansville and north across Volusia , Seminole, Orange and Lake counties.
The early morning sprinkling was cause for rejoicing at Twin Oaks apartment complex, west of Nova Road and north of Mason Avenue.
Tony Cummings came out at 7 a.m. and gathered up the icy white stuff from the top of parked cars to make "Mr. and Mrs. Daytona."
"I was excited about Florida getting snow," he said, lighting up a cigar. The occasion was momentous enough that they made a sign to go behind the snow people to commemorate the date.

Still just a little too warm for the stuff down here in the Fort Lauderdale area at 1pm / 43'F / 6'C, but the front is making its way through the state as we speak, and it seems to be only getting colder as the day progresses. They're still anticipating precip through the night with a low right around the freezing level, so we may...*may*...see some white tonight. Hasn't happened down here since '77.
