I'm a huge Patriots fan. I love the hate for Tom Brady from fans around the league for no reason. People say he didn't deserve comeback player of the year award, but the dude had such a devastating knee injury that people say he would never be as good as he was. Fact is, he had the second best passing year of his career, and it was still sub-par to what he could have done. It's been 3 years since Carson Palmer's knee injury and he's still not back up there with the elites. I still think Brady is a great player and i'm looking forward to next season.

People hate the "Golden Boy" inmage which he had had since recently, which consists of the fact that he can do no wrong and has everything going for him. Add in the fact that his head coach is an @$$ rubs off on him for simply being associated with Belichick.

I hate him because I'm a Dolphins fan and as a Dolphins fan it is my duty to hate the other teams in the AFC East and right now I hate Mark Sanchez, Rex Ryan and the whole Jets team more than the Pats.  duck

The reason everyone hates asschin Brady?

-How many rules have been created for him?

-He has no class.

-He cheated on and dumped Bridget Moynahan while she was pregnant with his baby.

And yet Tom Brady ended up in the same position as the Bengals did - eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

Leave Bill Belichick Alone!

Pre-Spygate and Pre-Super Bowl XLII, I had the greatest amount of the respect for Brady, Belichick, and the Patriots. To this day, I believe Bob Craft (Pats owner) runs a class orgnization, and my dad is proud to have done USO work with the New England Patriots back in 2003. Had the Patriots been playing anyone but the Giants in the Super Bowl XLII, I would have been pulling for the 19-0. But since Spygate and Super Bowl XLII, and taking shit from Patriots fans right up to Super Bowl (that they were all whiney and bitchy about when it was thrown back in their face following the Giants victory), I now have a strong disdain for Belichick, Patriots fans, and Tom Brady (for the way Pats fans idolize him and the way he left his pregnant girlfriend).

For the last time. I wish people would just do a little research. He didn't know that she was pregnant. He didn't find out until like 3 months later when he was with Giselle.

No one in the NFL has class, besides Tony Dungy. Players are there to win and talk smack. What exactly gave you the reasoning that Brady has no class? Oh I know, because he's good looking and dating a supermodel. That logic is out the door. You want to talk about no class, how about Joey Porter? Talk about the most classless guy in the NFL.

I'm sure you did. We all saw a team with the worst record in the NFL make the playoffs at 11-5 while we missed it at 11-5 with a backup QB, and half of our starters on Offense and defense on IR. Name any team in the league that can do that? None. Who is Manning's backup?  rotfl

The fact is, people hate Brady for the same reason they hate A-Rod or Jeter. Don't hate the player guys, hate the game  rotfl .

Didn't that already happen this past season? Meanwhile, McNabb, Roethlisberger, Palmer, or Rivers could be at the receiving end of a blatant cheapshot and the refs would pretty much turn their head because it's not Brady or Manning...

It's an application of the rules, an application that is not equal. Brady gets ridiculous calls that other QBs don't get.

Have a look at this video to see how Brady gets tapped and goes down to draw the penalty, while the refs look the other way while Sanchez gets face-masked:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITjQsQRzt9Y

On other QBs this would not be a flag. He barely got touched. But since it's Brady, you know what's coming:

I never liked the New England Patriots nor Tom Brady, though I admit I don't hate them as much as I hate the worst team to even exist on the face of the Earth: the Dallas Cowboys. Yes, I did predict a victory for the Patriots during the Wildcard round, but that simply a realistic choice, because the Ravens were the underdogs.

What pisses me off the most is that the German sports media has become obsessed with the Pats, not because of Tom "Crybaby" Brady and Bill Bellicheat, but because of Sebastian Vollmer, a linesman from Kaarst in Germany. Sure, it's always nice to see a German make a living in a US and/or Canadian sports league (particularly if its the NFL, the NBA or NHL), and I'm sure he's one hell of a linesman, but Jesus Christ they're overhyping him sometimes. Not even the Pittsburgh Steelers (my NFL team) got as much exposure in Germany when they won the Superbowl, than the Patriots have gotten throughout the entire 2009 season.

And before anyone accuses me of saying things that only distract from the fact that the Steelers did not make it to the playoffs, I believe the Steelers deserved to NOT go to the playoffs this year. They played like shit and their defence wasn't nearly as good as it was last year.

Gee I don't know...how about that entire playoff game against the raiders? Letting actual plows out on to the field? That has never been allowed before. The Tuck rule? The NFL pulled that one out of it's proverbial arse DURING the game. Too bad it had never been used before. Apparently that exact situation had NEVER happened before that game...yet it happens in several games since then.

You can no longer swipe at a QB's legs from the ground with your hands. You now have to actually get UP to tackle a QB if you're on the ground. Why don't we wrap Brady (and the rest of the league's QB's) in bubble wrap while we're at it. They get payed to play the game, and if it happens, get tackled. Injuries happen. All of the best QBs have gotten majorly injured...deal with it.

Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 8):
Name any team in the league that can do that? None.

Don't be so sure of your cocky self. Miami caught lightning in a bottle last year, I'll gladly admit it. It's just as possible for Detroit to come out and blow people out of the water next year; their schedule will be easy enough to do so. Miami also wasn't as bad as the 1-15 record they earned, and proved it last year. This year they fell back to earth, and frankly I wasn't surprised. I was hoping for an 8-8 season, and they came close.

Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 8):
The fact is, people hate Brady for the same reason they hate A-Rod or Jeter. Don't hate the player guys, hate the game...

No, it's not 'fact'. Not for me. I could care less about Jeter, A-Rod, Barry Bonds, Mark McQuire, Sidney Crosby (just for you Steeler83...). Let me take you on a story... I'm a Detroit Red Wings fan. I bleed winged wheel. The Colorado Avalanche and the Wings had a fierce rivalry in the late 90s/early 2000s. While I hated the Colorado Avalanche...I respected some of their best players. Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg, Milan Hejduk. Wing Killers. I couldn't hate them, but I could fear them. Now take the goalie. Patrick Roy. Cocky SOB. I friggin' hated his guts, and absolutely LOVED it every time the Wings beat him. He bitched about every single goal against, blaming the refs, ice, team mates...etc etc.

I feel the same way about Brady.

I do wonder why all the rule changes? Why not keep rules the same as in College Football, with the only difference being the vertical distance between the hashmarks and overtime rules? Why make it so complicated? When I started watching the NFL again, I got completely lost with all the changes that have occured, and I'm sure even those who watched the NFL all of their lives will have gotten lost with those new rules at some point.

I saw that. It was against the Ravens. Haloti Ngata came around swung a righty at Brady and it hit him in the head and facemask, which is clearly a flag. Don't hate Brady because refs don't make a call. people act as if he has the ability to control the ref's mind to make those calls.

I'm a proud Baltimorean and Ravens fan. It was karma and our team's talent that are taking us to the next step. I do admire Brady's return from that awful knee injury. But, that is where I draw the line. Brady is perceived by non Pats fans as a whiner and cry baby. Usually, the officials rule in his favor. Remember December 3, 2007? If it were not for that penalty call we'd have been the team that knocked the wind out of New England's sails.
And in our October loss, had our man caught the ball we would have had the "W."
Interesting how the Golden Boy knocked up a famous hottie actress and she had his love child and he wants little or nothing to do with that mistake. New England has had their run, now, let there be some fresh blood, thank you very much. Brady has still got it and Belecheck still has his ways so, not to worry, the Patriots are not joining the bottom boy's club with the Washington Redskins and Detroit Lions.
I'm Zippyjet & I approve of this message!

Good question. I guess it's got to do with Jerry Jones overhyping his group of overpaid wannabe stars, like Tony Romo team all the time or something (or maybe it's simply because the old Texas Stadium appeared during the intro for "Dallas").

Let's go over the mistakes that led to that loss, i'll also post a video for you to see. The first huge mistake was Kyle Boller trying to force a pass, it was picked off and the Patriots got the ball back. The second mistake was Rex Ryan calling a timeout on a 4th and 1 after his defense had stopped a hurry up QB sneak by Brady. I'm sure the refs caused that. How about the false start on the Patriots that led to 4th and 6? You can blame the refs for that, but it put the ravens in a better situation to stop the conversion. Next play, the patriots got the 1st down from 4th and 6, don't blame that on preferential treatment. How about Samari Rolle wrapping Randy Moss up during that 4th and 6 and dragging him to the ground which led to the 5 yard illegal contact penalty. Then there was the holding penalty on the secondary that led to five more yards. It was the ONLY questionable flag in that 2 minute drive, even though he clearly grabbed Watson, but i'll give you that one. Then there was the horrible call not too pressure Brady on the exact next play which led to the TD to Gaffney, who was WIDE open on that catch.

Let's face it, the Ravens have had a history of their defense allowing late scores, and blaming it on the refs. They did it in 07. They did after they played the Pats this year, they did it when Carson Palmer and the Bengals came back late to beat them this year, the same game when Ray Lewis completely decked Chad Ochocinco, which I believed he should have been kicked out of the game for. They're defense gives up huge plays when the game is on the line, but they don't want to take the blame. And please, before the assumptions, you should know that the Ravens are my second favorite team in the NFL. I've always loved their defense, i'd beg for a guy like Ray Lewis on my team. Ed Reed is great I love rooting for them, so I wasn't too disappointed about the Patriots loss.

Heres a link which shows this same 2 minute drive if you'd like to re-watch it.

Oooo testy. Perfect.   Perfect typical New England fan.

Amen! Feel the hatred flow through you, FuturePilot16...only through it shall you find the dark side...oh wait, you're a New England fan, so you're already there.  silly

Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 19):
people act as if he has the ability to control the ref's mind to make those calls.

He could start by not falling to the ground so much. Diving is for European football.

Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 19):
As an honest football, fan, are you going to sit there and say that you've NEVER seen one of these calls against any other QB in the NFL? Put your hatred aside for a second and answer that.

Of course not. Other QBs have gotten those calls as well. Brady, however, gets them more than most.

Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 19):
I saw that. It was against the Ravens. Haloti Ngata came around swung a righty at Brady and it hit him in the head and facemask, which is clearly a flag.

You're lying. Ngata did not swing at him.

He didn't swing at him like in a fight. He went for Brady and his hand hit him in the helmet and facemask.

Ok. And who might your team be? Honestly? Please don't lie about it because that would be really pathetic.

Falling to the ground? The dude is a QB, they get hit and fall to the ground. When Manning get's hit, he goes down, where is the criticism there? Oh my bad, sorry, you're only biased against Brady and the Patriots. Sorry.

Quoting Mir (Reply 27):
Of course not. Other QBs have gotten those calls as well. Brady, however, gets them more than most.

A few years ago, I remember a horrible play where Osi Umenyiora of the Giants was about to sack Vince Young. He wrapped him up, and let him go before bringing him down, for fear that he might get a penalty because he thought Young already threw the ball. Young still had the ball and was able to get away and complete the pass.

The reason for Osi's reaction was due to a ton of roughing the passer calls early in the 07 season, which was NOT caused by Tom Brady special treatment. The refs sometimes have bad years early on in a season when it comes to roughing the passer calls and other ridiculous calls. It happened that year and it happened this year as well. If you will realize, after that Baltimore game, Brady was not a part of a roughing the passer penalty for the rest of the season

The definition of an NFL roughing the passer call is

Quote:
While a quarterback can be tackled while he is in possession of the ball, he cannot be hit or tackled after the ball has left his hand.

There is a little gray area here, but not a lot, and of course owners want their top players protected, and of course Brady has gotten special treatment, but you make it seem as though it defines the NFL.

He went to block the pass, and as he came down from the jump his hand got Brady, not very hard. Certainly not enough to bring him to the ground. And yet down he went.

No need to lie about it: my teams are the Jets and Jaguars. I've also got a gradually-diminishing fondness for the Dolphins - a product of growing up in Jacksonville before the Jaguars came into being.

Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 28):
of course Brady has gotten special treatment

And there you go.

You obviously didn't see the play. In any even it's still a penalty. Don't blame Brady for what the refs called, it makes no damn sense.

Quoting Mir (Reply 29):

And there you go.

But you make it seems as though he's the only one, you're clearly biased and unwilling to admit that he's not the only star QB to get special treatment.

Here's a little tidbit since you're a jets fan, I know for a fact that Mark Sanchez will be a star QB in this league, I want see your excuses 5 or 6 years down the road when he starts to get special treatment.

That is fair.

I meant you liking to see the Patriots lose is fair.

I know, I was trying to say I agree, but I guess that wasn't clear... oh well...

Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 22):
I'm sure Porter is a good teammate, and he's a great player, but I dislike him. The reason being I know that he purposefully vents his anger against the patriots because he dislikes them. That's fine with me, but I have no respect for a guy who thinks it's acceptable to play at 150% against only the team he hates the most (the patriots) and plays shitty in the other 14 games.

He was the same way when he was with the Steelers. I guess I wasn't too clear about that either. In the off season, as mentioned before, he was known for beating up or at least fighting with members of the Bengals IIRC. I think during the 2004 season there was a huge fight that broke out before a Steelers/Browns showdown. Care to guess who started it? Apparently he's always been like that. Heh, you know, he had more sacks than James Harrison last year. Yet, he never set the Steelers record for sacks in a season! I guess getting rid of him in favor of Harrison was a good thing in hindsight...
