Quoting FuturePilot16 (Thread starter): Keep in mind the 10s of thousands of Indian doctors that are in America. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Thread starter): Disturbing to know that millions of Americans still take this guy seriously. |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 4): And many of them went to American medical schools and practice medicine in America. How is this relevant to Indian hospitals, except for the fact that they choose to to live and work in America rather than India? |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 4): Disturbing to know that so many are so blinded by ideology as to ignore valid questions |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 5): He didn't ask any valid questions. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 5): How about Dr. Sanjay Gupta, he was born here and trained in the U.S. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 5): But his sheer prejudice sarcasm just annoys the crap out of me. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 5): Saying something like "In America where we actually have something called.....flushed toilets", that's profoundly disturbing. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 5): He insulted the SEIU, |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 5): "Some of the money paid to hospitals goes to a SKILLED (Not Indian) doctor, so he can pay for years of training he had at HARVARD |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 4): The Ganges remark was a cheap shot. |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 4): And many of them went to American medical schools and practice medicine in America. How is this relevant to Indian hospitals, except for the fact that they choose to to live and work in America rather than India? |
Quoting Mir (Reply 7): Five minutes with an atlas and you can find a river in the US with a similarly ridiculous-sounding name. |
Quoting NIKV69 (Reply 10): What is funny is I bet India has some good surgeons and you would probably would get the same knee or hip replacement done there for a lot less. |
Quoting Airport (Reply 8): "Oh, I don't mean to offend you, American, you have a beautiful country, and big tall mountains....like....like...the GRAND TETONS! HA HA HA!!" |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 6): Obviously since the question was asked on Fox News and not MSNBC it is invalid (what exactly does that mean anyway?) no matter who asks it. |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 6): Doesn't that make him an American doctor? Or are you so hung up on his skin color and name you cannot consider him so? That sort of sounds like......prejudice. |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 6): That sort of sounds like......prejudice |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 6): So why do you watch? |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 6): You are aware that India does not enjoy the same level of sanitary services that the US does, right? |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 6): Do they have some special right that confers immunity to criticism? |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 6): "You get what you pay for". Witness the Buick vs Rolls Royce remark, or is that too insulting as well? |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 6): I have followed his show in an irregular basis for almost 6 years now. I |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 6): You don't like Glenn Beck, that is your prerogative |
Quoting NIKV69 (Reply 10): What is funny is I bet India has some good surgeons and you would probably would get the same knee or hip replacement done there for a lot less. |
Quoting Aaron747 (Reply 11): Now that's a ridiculous name. |
Quoting NIKV69 (Reply 10): Well Fox hired him to get viewers and push the envelope. What do you want. I mean of you watch MSNBC you will see those hosts say stuff that is over the top too. |
Quoting Aaron747 (Reply 11): Now that's a ridiculous name. Whether from ground or air, those gorgeous peaks look absolutely nothing like nipples. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Thread starter): Glenn Beck Insults The Indians |
Quoting Vikkyvik (Reply 2): There are certainly some very good schools and doctors in India |
Quoting Cpd (Reply 3): My country is according to Indians, and, according to comments in their newspapers |
Quoting FlyDeltaJets87 (Reply 16): can't watch the clip because I'm at work on a computer without sound. But is it as bad as Hillary Clinton insulting Gandhi? |
Quoting FlyDeltaJets87 (Reply 16): Or Joe Biden's comment? "you cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent." |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 12): I never said he wasn't American, and I never pointed out his skin color. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 12): Explain to me how that sounds Prejudice? You make no sense |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 12): Hell no, i've criticized them myself. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 12): Do you know that a lot of knock off products, (such as the Gucci Bag example he provided), a lot of knock off products are just as good as the real thing, especially in NYC. You can go to New York and buy a pair of Nike's for $50, where you normally pay 3 times the price, and you could not tell the difference. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 12): The woman explaining her hip replacement surgery said she got the same hip in India, that she would get at an American hospital for 1/3 the price. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 12): Which explains why you're defending him. You are a fan of his show, and based on the fact that you're a regular viewer, you don't see the same things that I do. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 12): But you can see why someone who has no connection to Glenn Beck, or has never watched his show, or has never seen any of his moronic chalkboard conspiracies, they would say the same thing about my remarks |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 12): I had my roomate watch this video, he ignores politics as much as possible, and even he found the video disturbing and is wondering why a guy can say stuff like this on a "News" Network. |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 22): But you did bring him up as an example of an Indian doctor. |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 22): Simple, you look at him and see his skin color and ancestry and label him an Indian. As opposed to what citizenship he holds. |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 22): Then isn't it hypocritical to take Beck to task for doing the same thing you admit to doing? |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 22): Why is it disturbing? Because he disagrees with it? |
Quoting Lowrider (Reply 22): but can you say the same about a hip replacement? |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Thread starter): let's see if you can come up with a sane explanation for why Glenn Beck is insulting India. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 12): This has nothing to do with Fox News, |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Thread starter): Keep in mind the 10s of thousands of Indian doctors that are in America |
Quoting Vikkyvik (Reply 2): Beck's extremely over-the-top sarcastic tone was, well, extremely over-the-top, but oh well. |
Quoting Vikkyvik (Reply 2): EDITED to add: And I totally thought this thread was about the baseball team based on the title |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 5): It came out of his own mouth, "he wouldn't want to go to an Indian doctor." |
Quoting Airport (Reply 8): A quick google search revealed that there's no such thing as "Dajara Raja Medical School |
Quoting NIKV69 (Reply 10): What is funny is I bet India has some good surgeons and you would probably would get the same knee or hip replacement done there for a lot less. |
Quoting HAWK21M (Reply 17): On the opinion....Everyone is entitled to their own |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 5): "Some of the money paid to hospitals goes to a SKILLED (Not Indian) doctor, so he can pay for years of training he had at HARVARD", |
Quoting Mir (Reply 7): we're basically paying to educate them |
Quoting DXing (Reply 25): I heard him say "I don't want a discounted doctor". |
Quoting BMI727 (Reply 27): I love how the only people who take Beck seriously are hardcore liberals |
Quoting DXing (Reply 25): And if you listen carefully his rant is about the reasons for the cost difference. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 28): You might want to also see his millions of followers who take him seriously as well |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 28): but of course conservatives don't follow the facts so that's no surprise. |
Quoting BMI727 (Reply 27): hardcore liberals who run away with his rantings and promptly wallpaper them on anyone who does not think like they do, |
Quoting Mir (Reply 7): That's what we ought to be pissed about - we're basically paying to educate them, but we don't see any of the benefits. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 28): And exactly who is the "discounted doctor" he is referring to? An Indian doctor |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 5): It came out of his own mouth, "he wouldn't want to go to an Indian doctor." |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 28): But it's the way he referenced the cost difference. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 28): For example, It's cheaper in India because their doctors are trained at the "Dajara Rhaja Medical school", they don't have flushed toilets or their 2 cars like every American does and they apparently live near a river that sounds like a disease, which would be funny if he was a comedian, but he's not. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 28): I already recognized the underlying message of his rant but of course conservatives can't see why i'm disturbed by his remarks, I am really surprised |
Quoting BMI727 (Reply 29): Millions? Yeah sure |
Quoting Mir (Reply 7): And many Indian doctors studied in America, but went back to India afterward because their student visas expired and they couldn't get other ones. That's what we ought to be pissed about - we're basically paying to educate them, but we don't see any of the benefits. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 32): Conservatives who watch his show certainly think so, oh and look here comes the facts conservatives fear. |
Quoting DXing (Reply 31): As I said his message is usually obscured by the presentation but that is a matter of taste, |
Quoting BMI727 (Reply 34): Oh, so everyone who watches his show agrees with what he says and is just as radical as Beck. |
Quoting BMI727 (Reply 34): Presenting in a sane manner would not be nearly as profitable. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 35): I didn't say he was a radical. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 35): And the only reason anyone watches his show is because they enjoy doing so |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 35): You have a small few who oppose him who watch in order to critique. |
Quoting BMI727 (Reply 27): hardcore liberals who run away with his rantings and promptly wallpaper them on anyone who does not think like they do |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 35): Because there are people who care more about entertainment value rather than the facts |
Quoting Vikkyvik (Reply 2): Does he have a point with some of what he said? Yes. Could some of what he said be insulting (to Indians) and embarrassing (to Americans)? Yes. Am I insulted? No. |
Quoting Lukeyboy95 (Reply 37): What an embarrassing little man to have on your TV networks - let alone a news channel |
Quoting Lukeyboy95 (Reply 37): What are FOX thinking off? |
Quoting BMI727 (Reply 36): You wouldn't talk about him if he wasn't. If Beck wasn't a radical, Fox would cancel him and find someone who is. Don't insult our intelligence by telling us that people with Beck's views are mainstream. |
Quoting BMI727 (Reply 36): ...and not all of them are on Fox. wideeyed |
Quoting BMI727 (Reply 38): They aren't really a news channel. |
Quoting Lukeyboy95 (Reply 39): My bad - I thought they were... |
Quoting DXing (Reply 31): As I said his message is usually obscured by the presentation but that is a matter of taste, not the facts presented within the presentation. |
Quoting Lukeyboy95 (Reply 39): My bad - I thought they were... |
Quoting DXing (Reply 25): But on the other side of the coin, the 8 million hits that the Young Turks claim they get on their website must be insomniacs since Cenk Uygur has all the excitement of pressboard in his delivery. |
Quoting AM744 (Reply 26): Foreign students fees, tuitions, etc. have to be payed at the highest rates (non residents), be it by their governments through an scholarship, their parents or themselves. So even taking internships into account, I'd think training foreigners is actually good business for the US. |
Quoting Vikkyvik (Reply 33): If someone from another country can be accepted at and afford a top-notch education at an American university, I just can't find it within myself to be pissed about it. Doesn't matter what they end up doing after, as that's not a condition of their enrollment. |
Quoting Mir (Reply 42): But is a lively delivery really that important to the message? 8 million people would seem to say that it isn't. And that's a good thing. |
Quoting Mir (Reply 42): You yourself admit that Beck's hysteria gets in the way of his message. |
Quoting DXing (Reply 43): I didn't say "hysteria", you did. His on air antics do get the way of the message, but then so does Olbermans hyperbole. They might have some good ideas but their delivery methods ruin them. |
Quoting Mir (Reply 42): I'm not pissed about them getting accepted. I'm pissed about them getting kicked out of the country after they're done with their education. If they want to leave, fine, but they should be offered the chance to stay, and let their education actually help the country. For every foreign student that Harvard's medical program educates, that's one less American who can get into the program. If you kick the foreign students out of the country after they're done, you have that many fewer Harvard-educated doctors. And I'd venture that each of those doctors will contribute far more to the national economy over the course of their careers than they spend on their relatively short period of education. Not all of them are going to stay if given the choice, sure, but you can bet that many of them would. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 40): Here's an example. My father is a christian who is very devout, and considers himself about family values and a conservative. He enjoys watching Fox News, however he watches MSNBC and CNN to get their take on the issues as well. So in terms of politics, I see him as a moderate, but the conservative in him loves Fox News. |
Quoting FuturePilot16 (Reply 40): I've been saying that Beck was a radical all last year and every time I say it, the conservatives on this site bum rush me with their beliefs, so i'm done saying it. |
Quoting IAirAllie (Reply 46): So question...what makes you so quick to think that the majority of Fox viewers are rabid right wing nut jobs blindly following the latest conservative media pied piper instead of people like your Dad? |
