A.net's Bcal Has Died

Sat Jan 23, 2010 12:01 pm

I got an email today saying that the person behind the username BCAL (I shall refrain from saying his name), who I kept in touch with via PMs and Facebook and had some good conversations with, has died. Known for his strong anti-Virgin and anti-Branson views - and interestingly he never did get what I meant when I referred to the 'grinning pullover' - he was always good to have a 'through cyberspace' laugh with, and we were going to meet up at some point for a beer.

I thought other people on A.net, who had him in their respected users group or vice-versa or had read his posts, might like to know.

James

Thank you for passing on the sad news about BCAL

Regardless of what his opinion was, and whether you agreed or disagreed with it, his posts were always well thought out and intelligently written on whatever subject he was discussing.

As someone who often did agree with his political opinions, I'll miss his contributions, too.

Have a good flight, BCAL.

What achievements of the Blair Government? Even if there were some achievements, he committed the country's forces to war before consulting his cabinet, and then gained the support of the opposition and his MPs by lying about the "Weapons of Mass Destruction". He should be tried under war crimes but instead he is hailed as a hero, and never in the history of the UK has a former PM so milked his former office.

Any chance A.Net could amend the following:

Trevor
Username: BCAL
This user chose to end his or her First Class Membership. We are holding his/her username though in case he or she choose to come back. Activating this username is as simple as clicking here!

It doesn't seem very dignified?

Very sad news to hear he has passed on. I too always enjoyed reading his posts and the one time I got to meet him at the MAN Meet in 2006 was indeed a pleasure. As I recall he flew up from LGW with a few others but I only managed to catch up with him on the Saturday at the AVP. I seem to remember I had his mobile number and I remember trying to explain to him over the phone where to get a taxi from at T3 and how to get to the viewing park!

I remember he also took the time to go onboard G-BOAC, that was quite an important thing for him.

RIP Trevor.
