Are You Seeing The New "Alice In Wonderland"?

Fri Feb 26, 2010 8:43 pm

Pretty simple question:

Are you and or your family/spouse seeing the new "Alice in Wonderland" movie by Tim Burton?

Cast:

Johnny Depp ... Mad Hatter
Mia Wasikowska ... Alice
Helena Bonham Carter ... Red Queen
Anne Hathaway ... White Queen
Crispin Glover ... Stayne – Knave of Hearts
Matt Lucas ... Tweedledee / Tweedledum
Stephen Fry ... Cheshire Cat
Michael Sheen ... White Rabbit
Alan Rickman ... Blue Caterpillar
Barbara Windsor ... Dormouse
Paul Whitehouse ... March Hare

Looks really good.

Trailer:

Tim Burton's - Alice in Wonderland
Faire du ciel le plus bel endroit de la terre.

No, because it's not in theatres here because of the DVD dispute. I'd love to see it though....

Odeon in the UK were not going to show it, but they are now, any Cinema that does not is gunna loose a hell of a lot of money by not showing it.

Sometimes I wish Tim Burton would quit having a threesome with Depp and Bonham-Carter. EVERY movie he does, it seems, involves them both. And we all know what to expect, as wonderfully creepy as it is. I would like to see a movie where both of the characters didn't look like they had just died. It's starting to get like a Jim Carey movie.

At any rate, of course I will watch it at some point, maybe in the theaters. It was one of my favorites as a child.

Can't wait for it to come out. The only way to make Alice in Wonderland creepier than the original is to have Tim Burton direct it and make Johnny Depp the star.

I'm guessing you're referring to the book (I've read excerpts, but not the whole thing) rather than the Disney animated version? Has there ever been another feature film version of "Alice In Wonderland"?

Back to the original question: Yes, I'll definitely see the movie. Alan Rickman should be outstanding as The Caterpillar!

Even without Tim Burton making him the obvious choice, I couldn't imagine anyone else doing justice to the mad hatter role the way I expect Johnny Depp will and I'm really excited. Going to the midnight imax premiere with my sister, who conveniently happens to be taking a vacation from her job down at Disney to come home for a week and I'm sure she's probably 10x more obsessed as I am.

Not a chance. Tim Burton films are horrible!

The man takes, oh, I dunno - EVERYTHING - and says, "Make it dark. And weird. And cast dark, weird actors too."

That guy just sucks.

I hope the Dutch theatres will back down, but it doesn't look like it unfortunately. On the bright side... I won't have to wait that long to see it on DVD

Absolutely!

The title needs to be "what do you plan to ingest while watching the new Alice in Wonderland film?"

The original being the one with Gene Wilder I'm assuming?

I like both, but personally I think the the Johnny Depp version did a really good job for a remake ... I agree though, the original was great since I grew up with it as well, but for a remake I think they really pulled it off.

I had the same thought originally, but at the same time, everything that the three of them touch seems to turn into box office gold, so why ruin the formula? If it works and is making money, that is all that matters. That and the Oscars on the mantle

Depp = guaranteed income
Bonham-Carter = wife/partner = guaranteed bed time fun

Can you blame him taking advantage of that threesome?

Saw it on Saturday. Went at 10:45am for the 11:30 showing, although I got tickets 2:00pm, 4:00pm, 6:30pm & 9:00pm were already sold out!

IMHO the 3d was much better than Avatar but I suppose overall the film wasn't that bad - although there isn't much you can do with Alice In Wonderland! But I did think Stephen Fry's Cheshire Cat was absolutely amazing! Best character!
