Wenger Knife Shop At ZRH?

Tue Apr 20, 2010 9:32 pm

Hi there,

Is there any place inside ZRH airport where they sell Wenger knives with decent selection of models? I am looking for Wenger, not Victorinox.

Carrying such items onboard is of course another story which I do not want to discuss here.

Thank you in advance for your feedback

Why? Victorinox is better quality IMHO.

I didn't see anyplace that specifically sold Wenger, but there is a large duty free section that ought to have something that they can either ship for you or allow you to check through. I am pretty sure knives were for sale.

As far as quality, I'm certain you have your reasons, but Victorinox is making the current issue soldier knife.

If you're in town there's plenty of places to buy knives.

I think W vs V is more like A vs B (only W and V is one and the same company now), but I actually agree with you - I have also been always and I still am on the pro-Victorinox side (btw even fruit knives in my kitchen are mostly Victorinox-branded), but when I first saw a Wenger New Ranger series on their website I was amazed on how handsome a medium-sized pocket knife can be.

And to be specific this is what I am looking for:

Wenger RangerGrip 179 Wenger Patagonian Expedition Race Edition

Victorinox Rescue Tool (which I own) is a fantastic knife, but visually this one just rocks. And you cannot get it where I live for reasonable price. Thus the question.

As for the quality - from what I have seen I would say both are comparable. But the fact is I have seen and used mostly Victorinox.

Thanks!

If you are looking for a specific item, I understand.

I should think you'll have no problem finding it in Zurich. If you can't find it in the transit area, you might have to go out to the airport train station, which has a lot of shops.

Thanks for all the advices. Unfortunately I have no time to go to the city, but I will look hard around the airport.

Thanks all! And wish me good luck.

There is a Victorinox shop in the Airside Center inside the customs-area (duty-free), which of course also sells Wenger products, as Wenger in 2005 has been taken over by Victorinox. Wenger still is a different brand inside the Victorinox group.

I had not heard that. That's the end of a century-old rivalry.

Absolutely. But to the outside, two different brands are kept alive. There of course are US-American and Chinese (PRC) competitioners with quite nice products, and the Victorinox people of course know that !
