May Day Protests/clashes Around The World

Must be the first May Day where there has been more protests and unrest in Europe, USA, and elsewhere than in protest-happy Argentina. Very quiet with everyone enjoying the weekend. It must be the end of the world for sure now...

They didn't mention this one:

Pretty disappointing turnout, last time they had about 1,500 bikes and expected more this year.
After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...

We had the usual protest here in Dublin. It didnt get violent though (it never does here to be fair - except for one year, it has always passed peacefully).

To be honest, given the economic woes of the last while, im amazed it didnt get ugly!

Obviously the economic turmoil in first rate economies (which is so unusual), has contributed to this increase in protests.

From my point of view is just very strange, around here if a papermill is built there are protests for years... I guess misery loves company

Yes, but you Argentinians love a party too. And a protest seems to be as good a reason as any to get together...

Unfortunately, a supposedly peaceful protest in Santa Cruz, CA on May Day turned quite violent and caused US$100,000 in damage to downtown Santa Cruz, according to what I read in the Sacramento Bee today. What else do you expect in a university-dominated town where protests out of the blue can happen almost anytime?
