Osama Bin Laden Hitman Detained In Pakistan

Tue Jun 15, 2010 11:35 pm

DENVER — An American construction worker has been detained in the mountains of Pakistan after authorities there found him carrying a sword, pistol and night-vision goggles on a solo mission to hunt down and kill Osama bin Laden.

Catching bin Laden was Gary Brooks Faulkner's "passion," his brother said, noting that the 50-year-old has been to Afghanistan at least six times, learned some of the local language and even grew a long beard to blend in. Relatives and acquaintances said Faulkner is a devout, good-humored Christian who requires dialysis and did time in prison years ago.

I wonder if he had ever found Bin Laden if it wasn't because he was arrested

That's awesome. More power to him.

How funny would it have been, if he managed to do something the US has been unable to do for almost over a decade?

A sword and night vision goggles? Some people are getting pretty serious with World of Warcraft.

That's how you'll catch Osama right there.
Why do Aerospace Engineering students have to turn things in on time?

Isn´t the a "dead or alive" bounty on OBL´s head? Well, it is easier to just bring back the head instead of the whole OBL.
Also, Al Qaeda and the Taliban like to behead people, maybe he was thinking of giving OBL a dose of his own medicine.

Well, I think that we can make an exception for Osama. Plus, I highly doubt that this man would actually ever get the chance to kill Bin Laden, since it is generally accepted that Osama's bodyguards have standing orders to kill him if anyone gets too close so he can claim to be a martyr.

If you could kill Osama to stop 9/11 (theoretically) would you? I think there are some justifable times to kill, but yes, I'd rather detain than kill someone.

Then what is the point of having a bodyguard then??

I'm just saying that because I thought Jesus' message was about turning the other cheek, yet the guy is not described as a nice man or something like that, but as a Christian.

You mean another 9/11 ? Probably, but I'd have to be sure it would stop it, and not convince 10 others to become him.

Didn't this guy carry in a Christian bible into Pakistan too? What's the penalty for bringing in a bible into a predominantly Muslim country?

I'm sure in a different part of the country, he'd get the same treatment that Daniel Pearl did.

Now this is what is called having some initiative, rather than arguing politics over the internet, More power to this guy!

Could you imagine the embarassment on all sides, had this guy shown up with OBLs head in a bag??

Pakistan has a Christian minority and Churches and Bibles just about everywhere in native language too, as for this chap he was in a part of Pakistan where he would have gotten the same treatment as Pearl, luckily he got saved by being caught.

On the contrary this is what you call being absolutely stupid. That is no place for him to be roaming about, he was lucky to be caught by the authorities I think.

As long as he's not proselytizing, he wouldn't have a problem.

People get this sense that people of other religions in Pakistan need to hide or they will be persecuted/killed-that is simply not true.

This Cathedral in Karachi, Pakistan, is basically in the centre of the city..

There are other large churches in other cities as well.

You know? A lot of people call jumping out of an airplane into enemy territory stupid, as well as going into combat, as well as giving your life for your country.
Then there are those of us that call doing all that brave!

Someone screwing a hooker without a condom, is stupid!!

Well, it is in fact stupid if you don't do it in a certain frame, say being a member of the army/marines following official orders, with equipment, backup, etc.

Now personally I like jumping out of an airplane just for fun, some call that stupid too

One way or the other he's delusional. Believing he can do it, or doing it without believing he can succeed. Especially considering he is not even medically fit.

From the Huftington Post:
DENVER — An American construction worker has been detained in the mountains of Pakistan after authorities there found him carrying a sword, pistol and night-vision goggles on a solo mission to hunt down and kill Osama bin Laden.

And from the NY Times:
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — An ailing, middle-age construction worker from Colorado, on a self-proclaimed mission to help American troops, armed himself with a dagger, a pistol, a sword, Christian texts, hashish and night-vision goggles and headed to the lawless tribal areas near the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan to personally hunt down Osama bin Laden

Arming yourself with hashish? Maybe this guy wasn't so much on a "mission", as on a "trip"?
