Extreme Engineering

Tue Jun 29, 2010 8:22 am

Has anyone seen the episodes of "Extreme Engineering" on the Discovery Channel a few years back like in 2007?? I didnt get to see many of the episodes like the "TransAtlantic Tunnel," "Bridging the Bering Strait" so I ordered both collection sets on DVD that contains over 10 hours of episodes. I am really into architecture, engineering, and skyscrapers, etc. Its just so cool to see some of the things they have in mind. Like trying to construct a train tunnel underneath the Atlantic Ocean and trying to bridge the Bering Strait from Alaska to Russia that is 55 miles. Interesting stuff, awe inspiring, I also watch "Build it Bigger" on the Science Channel with Danny Forester the architect who hosts the show, very very cool stuff to watch. Abu Dhabi in UAE is totally expanding its city with skyscrapers never even imagined before. The Skypark Casino in Singapore is a blast to visit.

I can't stand that whiny little mouse. Showing the engeneering that goes into these projects is very interesting, but he is such a tool that I can not stand to watch the show for more than five minutes.

I caught some of that episode. The weather is so extreme across the Bering that is a challenge all by itself. There are a lot of factors going into engeneering that connector than what I would think is normal. I was not aware anyone would try to build a train tunnel under the Atlantic. That would be an interesting episode to watch!
Life in the wall is a drag.

I saw both episodes not too long ago. The ideas itself sounds pretty cool. Im skeptical about the whole idea...given to the fact theres underwater volcanoes, and the ocean floor is way too deep.
