Others lost more lives than the Jewish race? No-one can deny that.
According to this
around 50-55million died in WW2 broken down as follows
* USSR: 20.0M
* China: 10.45M
* Poland: 5.8M
* Germany: 5.5M
* India: 2.15M
* Japan: 1.9M
* Yugoslavia: 1.55M
Jews killed by the Nazis is around 6 million and other "undesirables" probably number around 750k to 1 million.
But the Jews weren't being fought against in a war. They were members of a civilian population targeted because of their religion and who they were, regardless of nationality. This doesn't make the millions lost in other countries any less tragic, but looking dispassionately, deaths in another country when you're fighting that country are a natural consequence.
From what I've read, the impression is that many Nazis did what they thought Hitler would like done (to curry favour, climb the career ladder, get their own power) rather than what he asked for and there were certainly enough who wanted to eliminate the Jews, communists, etc, etc.
Were others more evil than Hitler? Probably. But he was the leader and voice of the odious regime that had no compunction about killing anyone.
Anyway, I'm slowly working through
which is pretty much a forensic breakdown of who did what and when in the first half of the war. Chilling when the initial intention was the mass deportation of Jews to the outer reaches of the Reich (whether they actually arrived alive at the other end was of minor consequence) and it was only later when the systematic industrialised murder was introduced, when deportations took too long.
Is OS's rant aimed at stirring for the sake of publicity because of his film? It's hard to say there's any lack of conclusive evidence about what happened and who did what.
