Where Can I Find An Older Version Of Excel For Mac

Tue Aug 24, 2010 10:32 pm

Apparently the MS Office '08 for Mac version of Excel is inadequate for my econ stats class (something about lacking a data analysis tool). I haven't yet purchased MS Office for my mac, so I would certainly prefer to have the '08 version of the rest of the programs. Is there any reasonable way for me to track down an older version of excel (eg. '06) on its own? Thanks.

Have you checked out Open Office? You might be able to find a way to deal with the hiccup regarding the data analysis tool.

Or you can use MATLAB.

Isn't '03 the previous version. I've got it in the cupboard, but that's not much help to you, I know.....

Have a poke around for Open Office. It's free and just as good as (if not better actually, because you're not paying for it) the Microsoft suite.

You might try going to"

and enter "statistics" in the search field. There may be a few options that will meet your needs.

At least you'll have a go-to site for various Mac apps.

(something about lacking a data analysis tool

Are you sure you can't just download that from MS for free? MS doesn't pre-load Excel with everything.

This page in Mactopia explains what you have to do to get an analysis tools package.

That page will send you HERE. It's a program called StatPlus:Mac.

And then if you click on "Buy", you will find yourself HERE.

You'll see that the Statplus:Mac (Academic Version) is only another $90.00.

Plus you'll have an academic version of Office 2008, which is eligible for a free upgrade to Office 2011.

Cheers!

Is there going to be a 2010 version of Office fo Mac? Why can't MS create the same version of Excel as they do for Windows...same from a usability perspective? Is it technical reasons or they just cant be bothered?
