Buying The iPhone In Hong Kong

Sun Oct 24, 2010 6:29 pm

Hi all,
I am willing to buy an ifone from Hong Kong since it is relatively cheaper. I would like to know if Ifones are officially unlocked over there. Or do they operate on contract like in the USA.
And I appreciate any advise on this regard. specially if there is a chance for me to be ripped off by a fake one?

Thanks

If it says "ifone" on the box it is most probably a fake.

AFAIK, iFones always come locked and can only be used within the Jung Bisse Nahif TelCom Corp. in Jinxu Hua Province. They can be unlocked by a Mr. Xu who lives behind dock #11. He accepts a new rug or 1 hour with Oksana as pay.

Unlocked iPhones however should be available at most shops bearing the red junk sign of the HKTA. Or you search for "apple store hong kong" at google
