'Caprica' Is Toast As Of This Season

Fri Oct 29, 2010 8:38 pm

BSG fans, good news/bad news. 'Caprica' will not be extended by SyFy for another season but they will finish up with the remaining 'Final Five' episodes in Q1 2011. It appears that the lack of action and excessive talking turned off viewers. Even during BSG, the episodes on land were boring IMO.

The good news is that there will be a BSG prequel called ' Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome" which is a lead in to an action packed space based series. .

Good call. Plus splitting the season in half was incredibly stupid. I really would like to know their reasoning for that!

And the idiocy of putting the WWE on SyFy? I'd love to know what the network execs were smoking when they made that decision!

I'm optimistic Comorin, but I'm worried they'll screw that one up too.

What I'd like to see is a REAL Science Fiction network started up, cuz it sure ain't this one!

Totally agree. I love Sci Fi as a genre because it is so imaginative and inspiring. Caprica went all over the place. We watched it as we wanted to know more about how the original Cylons came about.

The only thing I'll miss is the Graystone's beautiful house by the lake...

Meh....Caprica somehow was never up to the same standards as BSG. Great to hear they are working on a prequel though. I wonder if they have signed on Nico Cortez as the young Adama...and his hot girlfriend..whatsher name..ah yes...Jaycie McGavin

I found Caprica interesting, but not enthralling like BSG was, so am glad they are going to wrap it up neatly, but not extend it for a full season. The show never lived up to its pilot. I have high hopes for Blood And Chrome, but am wary of it turning into something too similar to BSG, I hope it has it's own path to tread.

So say we all?

BSG kept us on hooks with its great mysteries - who were the Final Five, will they ever return Home, and wrapped it all up in the end. 'Blood and Chrome' will need its own hooks to keep us on the edge of our seats, and some really strong anchor actors - The BSG team was just 'stellar'.

Having said that, I wish they would reincarnate the old Baltar

Hope the new series features a lot of what I like to call "Good old fashioned intergalactic ass-kicking"...a lack of that rendered "Caprica" a bit dull...like "Star Trek Deep Space 9"...they never "go" anywhere..."Caprica" is a fine soap opera, but not much more. Too "deep"... I like it, but it's a bit of a yawner.

I'd like to see the team of writers that turned "Galactica" into such a good re-boot tackle some other classic sci-fi series. How about a re-boot of "Lost In Space" or "Space 1999"??????

Off topic but I'd say DS9 proved you don't have to really "go" anywhere for good sci-fi. The war arc(s) in the latter half of the show was/were excellent.
