UK Couple Freed By Somali Pirates

Sun Nov 14, 2010 3:08 pm

I have to say, after being held for over a year I didn't expect such a positive outcome here. Very, very pleased they are now safe.

I just hope they are not silly enough to sail anywhere near Somalia ever again.

If they really were near the Seychelles, it's not that close to Somalia, nor where the pirate activities are the strongest. And quite a few people sail there !

It looks like the liberation cost a few buck, from your link :

There was no official word on whether a ransom was paid, but the BBC's Frank Gardner said it was "the best part of $1 million".

A payment of about $430,000 (£267,000) was made in June, but did not result in the release of the Chandlers, he added.

They should be able to sail wherever it is that they want, especially in international waters. Unfortunately the world is a dangerous place these day.
