Akribos Xxiv Watches - Any Experiences?

Wed Nov 24, 2010 10:21 am

Hey guys! This is my first ever topic after recently joining, and I don't think it has been discussed! Hope to get some feedback!

I have recently ordered an Akribos XXIV watch online. So now while waiting for my watch to arrive, I wanted to ask if anyone has owned these watches? How have your experiences been?

I didn't even know where the watch was made in so I sent a general enquiry form on their information lacking website and the reply I got was "Akribos XXIV watches are Swiss engineered watches manufactured at our state of the art factory in Hong Kong."

I am really excited to get the watch, but I just hope its not a disappointment.

Swiss engineered but made in Hong Kong?

Yes, that was the exact same reaction I had when I read the email

I would have recommended buying a Swiss Engineered watch made in Switzerland.

How much are you paying for one of these things?

Yeah, I know I would usually be very particular where it is made in, but I liked it and ordered it. (Spur of the moment) I paid about $190 US and I got it today and it seems to be a very good watch! The leather belt is quite thick and spongy, it looks exactly as pictured, and works. The build quality seems very good, so it seems to be quite good.

Agree 100%...however

Would not have been possible for that kind of $

That is the main thing  and it looks like they stuffed a "Swiss quartz" movement into the watch....

Enjoy your new Watch!!!

Cheerios,

Thanks, and the watch isn't quartz but automatic! I love it so I couldn't possibly bother if it was made in Switzerland, especially for the price I paid! Maybe the next watch would be Swiss!

Well, $190 isn't too expensive - so it's not too risky a purchase.

After all, the jewellers up the road from where I work are selling a Jaeger le Coultre for nearly AUD$150,000.  Wow! That's when you start getting very particular.

(and before you ask, when is my Jaeger le Coultre watch arriving, no, I'm not spending $150,000 on a watch - no matter how nice it might be!)

Exactly! Thats why I didn't really hesitate when I clicked "buy."   I must say that it was really worth the $200 it looks a lot better than anything else in the price range.

The link above is for the watch I purchased for those who might be interested, and yes if you look closely it says "You Save $801.07" (which I didn't know whether to believe or not)
