http://www.jpost.com/IranianThreat/News/Article.aspx?ID=197395&R=R1

"Iranian government officials were angered by the revelation that a Star of David can be seen on the roof of the headquarters of Iran Air, the Islamic Republic's national airline, Al Arabiyya reported on Monday. The Star of David was discovered in a satellite image of Teheran airport taken by Google Earth.

Upon learning of the existence of the Jewish symbol through local media reports, the government officials called for its immediate removal."

Ha.....awesome.

There's a monument in Revolution Square in Tehran that's covered in them, apparently. Or it's just a pattern.

Ah yes, come 2012, I'm sure there will be some significance of some runways being kinda-but-not-really-just-only-if-you-look-at-it-just-right-and-try-to-look-for-problems in a swastika shape. Certainly the Nazis work in some way or another to the 'end of the world', right?

I suppose I could have just said "oh geez, not this again.   "
The above post is my opinion. Don't like it? Don't read it.

No conspiracy theories on my end. Functionally it's a brilliant design. I've just always felt it resembled a swastika.

the Jewish symbol

It doesn't always have to be a symbol of religion.

In the USA, usually before prohibition, the Star of David was commonly used on brewery buildings and beer bottle labels, to pay homage to King David. The Star-Peerless Brewery of Belleville, Illinois or Schoenhoffen Brewery of the Chicago are examples and there are dozens more. King David was one of the earliest known individuals to brew beer (known at that time). A lot of people who see the Star of David on old brewery building wrongly assume that the owners of those breweries were Jews, some may have been, but most were not.

All forms of geometrical designs resembling Star of David are used as decorative motifs liberally in all Muslim countries, infact it even adorns Mosques and other religious institutions since centuries, however in Islam its not associated with Judaism at all, and is seen just as a geometrical design, not the same with Crucifix though which is distinctly a religious symbol associated with Christianity.

As for what the Iranian are doing its plain stupid, hope other dont follow their example and start undoing centuries works related to Islam.

Well I don't know about the runways, but the evil horse on the entrance road has got to mean something bad is going on at DEN.

I believe the geometrical shape that is more commonly used in mosques and buildings in Islamic countries are not six-pointed stars (like the Star of David) but rather eight-pointed stars.

How did anyone notice that? How long has that building been there?

Too other better known examples are the Blatz Brewery, in Milwaukee (the actual brewery that was closed in 1961, not the 1986 built building, that had that name, which is now owned by Miller) and the Dubuque Star Brewery (closed 1997) in Dubuque, Iowa.

I wonder how long it will take them to get it off the top of the building?

It was still being built in Dec 2009, judging by one photo, so not that long.

Anyway, if they were that pi$$ed off with it they'd have dug it up by now. Rousing a rabble for other protests seems to be easily done over there.

Or maybe it isn't an issue for most Iranians....

We asked a woman in Tehran who had driven around the square recently about the monument. She said she had noticed simply "another ugly work" and hadn't paid attention to the details. It would be "funny" to have a Star of David in the middle of Tehran, she added.
