Is This True With Gmail

Fri Dec 03, 2010 11:10 am

Dear fellow A.Netters,

I have recieved a mail from Gmail askin me to give out my account name and password because they are installing the definitive gmail. Its stated that if not, my account can be cancelled in 48 hours .

This email has the gmail logo and and signed Gmail Team. Please tell me if you have a recieved a similar message or if this is some sort of hacking going around,

Regards

GMail would already have your account name and password on record if you have an account with them. There can be no possible reason for them to send an email requesting it. This sounds very much like a scam.

Surely that must be that.

Look where the website that asks you the login and password is located (it must be an outside link). Surely it's nothing to do with google or gmail.

neither will any other company. They already have a copy of your password, why would they ask you for it? If there was a problem, they would reset your password and email you a new one.

Braybuddy's first rule of the internet is NEVER to give your account name/number, password or any other security information to anyone who asks for it. NEVER. NEVER. NEVER.

No legitimate email provider will ever ask you for your email address or password.
