Sterger To NFL: Suspend Favre

Fri Dec 10, 2010 6:00 am

OK so now the former sideline reporter who accused Brett Favre of sending her e-mails of his junk is demanding the NFL reprimand him with suspension. She says she's not after money, but the way her manager is talking, it's a little hard to buy that. Giving her the benefit of the doubt though, isn't it a little late for all this? She seems to be trying to clean up in an attempt to jumpstart a more legit sports reporting career (she apparently had those ridiculous implants removed).

All I know is, Mrs. Favre is the only one who will be getting a big fat payday out of this. What a dweeb - all that ego sure meant he had some bad karma coming sooner or later.

I just want to see some kind of resolution soon. I have no idea why it's taken this long. If Favre did send the voicemails and pictures, he should be held accountable, just like anyone else. A woman has a right to go to work without dealing with someone's lewd digital come-ons.

And if he did nothing of the sort, then tell us that, NFL, and put the whole thing to bed. It's gone on too long already.

Dear Commissioner Goodell,

We wholeheartedly agree with Ms. Sterger - Mr. Favre must be suspended immediately, and indefinitely.

Signed,

I want Favre suspended just because his act has become annoying over the last couple of years. But I don't even think that even Goodell would have the heart to break his streak with a suspension.

I think the NFL Commissioner figures that Farve will not be playing beyond this season, indeed due to recent injury, he may not play anyway for the rest of the season. Perhaps the best thing the NFL Commissioner could do is to make it clear that Farve will not be able to play or be otherwise employed in the NFL anymore after the end of this season, a 'death penality' if you will.

The NFL should also put in new clauses as to the league mandated parts of any employees contract that if they choose not to attend certain offseason or any part of pre-season training unless legitmently recovering from an injury, that they will be suspended without pay for at least 4 games. That would end the circus of Farve and other players playing the scam of retiring or otherwise holding out in contract disputes to get out of pre-season prep.

What a joke.

The bimbo sideline eye-candy is backpedaling since she couldn't get a payout? She's trying to recover some dignity (doubt she had any to begin with) so she isn't painted as the gold digger type? She is no Ines Sainz.

It's comical to read the allegations from someone that has zero credit accuse someone that has been almost fodder free his entire career. I see a lot of you throwing Favre to the wolves based solely on your dislike for his retirement decisions.

What planet are you living on? The NFLPA would never allow that to happen.

The thing is, the NFL covered this up for a while. Heck, I first heard it about it the first few days of August, but it didn't really make big news until, what, October? The NFL needed Favre, because he's a ratings hog...but when Favre proved he is finally done and washed up, the NFL threw him to the wolves and leaked the story.

The NFL is in the business of making money; period. They gave no preferential treatment to Favre that they don't give to other big names in their lucrative business. Eg. Andre Johnson connects on Courtland Finnegan's face three times and gets a slap on the hang because (while one of the most respected players in the game was wrong to not get suspended a game) he was playing on NFL Network's Thursday game.

Lots of athletes want to have their cake and eat it too - this is nothing new or surprising. Though I suppose you're right - if there were some merit to this, surely the content of the sexting and junk-revealing messages would have been leaked by now.

Absolutely, I agree 100%. Which was exactly my point - when they thought they could still make money off him, they protected him like no other...when it came out that he is, in fact, a washout this year, they threw him to the dogs.

He's made the NFL enough money - Goodell will protect him through the end of the season.

I think we need to suspend Roger Goodell for placing a fine on this hit.

I think they will drag this out til the last game, and then Favre needs to walk away with a career still intact, regardless of if he thinks he has another season in him.

I have no respect for the guy anymore (that ship sailed two years ago), but we all know that Favre wasn't *really* harassing Sterger. According to some reports, she even encouraged the sexting. The real tragedy here is that such a legendary player is going out like this.

Where were you in the mid-90s? Favre's boozing and carousing around Green Bay was legendary. Oh, and there was that little Vicodin thing...
