Have You Filed Your 2010 Tax Yet?

Mon Feb 07, 2011 10:50 pm

I have. Used one of the many free services, available online.
Received my W2 this morning and right away started working on it. Filed, verified, printed and submitted. Done.

But this year i was surprised by getting a confirmation of my refund, within an hour! Holy cow, i said.
In previous years, it took around 3-5 days. Well, now it's just a matter of time.

The End...

I will owe, so my tax forms will be post-marked April 18th. They'll be done by the end of February.

With the mess involving this year's 1099s, I am still waiting for all the information I need from the various sources I took payment from. Otherwise, my expenses are all in a row (basically) and should plug into TurboTax. I might even get a refund from my estimated payments (doubt it though)

Waiting on my T4 and various other slips, but have already got a head start on things and entered in numbers I could from pay stubs & tuition receipts.

Just waiting for the actual forms to show up to put in the actual numbers. Looking good for a refund again this year (education pays   )

I'm done, but I'm in no hurry to file. Even though I get something back, it barely covers the amount I spent of the software.

I have a year of receipts to enter into MS Money. Once that is all done it takes about 3 hrs to do my taxes. And this year looks like it is going to be a bloodbath

Great work. Its tough not to either owe the government money or loan them money interest-free.

Filed last week - should have my refund by next week but in the past Turbo Tax is usually good about getting my refund within a week.

We used Turbo Tax

I have been using TT for years now, but am considering using a tax preparer.

Any advice on how to pick a good one?

Candidate for typo post of the year, thus far (bold emphasis added, particularly the first word):

I heard on a news report this morning; that itmeizers should not file until AFTER Valentine's Day (Feb. 14) at the earliest. I'm in a similar situation.

Yeah same boat here. THe real issue is that 1. the IRS won't process Itemized returns until after valentine's day, and a lot of brokerages and other companies that need to issue 1099's to their clients won't due so until the 15th of Feb.

I ran my numbers through Turbotax with a few educated guesses, and i am going to get a pretty good return. It also told me , that I needed to claim quite a few more items on my state and federal witholdings forms, as although I like a big check , I would prefer this.

I read that in the paper a few weeks back and my accountant told me the same thing. I will be waiting until the end of this month to file.

I filed last weekend and got my state tax refund today and soon the BIG one, my federal taxes hopefully on the 15 when I get my paycheck.

I used TaxSlayer and I recommend it to everyone.

I don't really have a problem with taxes after being forced into retirement.

NOTE: Read the other day that most people don't know the phone excise tad deduction - missing a $30 to $60 refund.

Just Googled it:

Man, you are fast in the USA!

I filed for 2009 in May 2010 and recieved the result today! The nice thing, it's a €8401.40 refund
The note says I'll get the refund at the end of April.

But I really don't care about the slow administration, this refund is more than 4x my monthly gross income and although we expected this, seeing it black and white on paper is reason enough to open a bottle of champage, which is what we're going to do right now
