Pagani Huayra - Interesting Aerodynamic Features

Sat Feb 19, 2011 3:37 am

One of the car magazines posted an interesting video of the Pagani Huayra recently showing the car inside the Modena Design workshops:

Of note, watch carefully the back of the car - it has individual wings that can be raised separately, but also at the front, there are flaps which can be raised separately too. I've not seen this before on other road cars.

Extremely interesting features on the new car. This is also the first time we get to hear the new car - it seems to be a low revving thing - relying on brute torque and power (which the M158 Mercedes engine has lots of, over 700hp and greater than 1000nm torque).

The people pulling the covers off the car are Horacio Pagani and (I think) Maurizio Ferrari, one of Pagani's colleagues back at Lamborghini when he worked there on the LM and, Countach Evoluzione (980kg, 490hp carbon fibre Countach) and Diablo projects.

A sleek looking car, sounds powerful. I was waiting for the big dog to jump up on the car door and scratch the paint. Very expensive paint to be sure.

It does sound really soft compared to the older Zonda models:

This is the Zonda P2, the prototype that has been converted/rebuilt into just about every type of Zonda model under the sun. In that video, it's masquerading as a Zonda Cinque, the one used for a game-promo video.

It seems to have the manual gearbox of the normal Zonda, instead of the Cinque sequential gearbox.

That sound would not work too well here with the neighbors.. Not too well with the State Police either. You would be a target, a noisy target.
