Trying To Find Someone In Sendai

Thu Mar 17, 2011 9:52 pm

I'm trying to find my host family from a 1999 Rotary International Exchange trip. I've lost their address and their email address as well. Their last name is "Ishibashi" and I believe his first name is "Masaya." I can't remember her name, but I do know that he is a fairly affluent and well-known dermatologist, and she is a former flight attendant for Japan Airlines. I emailed Rotary International but have not heard back from them yet.

I know some members here are Japanese and would know more about how to find them. I believe their home is on a hill, but I believe he may lecture part time, or full time at Tohoku University Medical Center. They are/were Rotary Members of the Sendai Park Rotary Club.

Any ideas on how to find them? They also have a son who is a few years older than I am, perhaps 35.

Have you tried People Finder from Google?

I hope that helps, best of luck.

Cheers!

I cannot provide a link, but Google has set up a people search website that allows users to find people (or provide information) who may be lost as a result of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Good luck.

Edit: I am slow as always ....

I was able to find the webpage and phone number for their clinic, but I doubt you'll be able to reach them...

EDIT: Here's the name in Japanese characters-> 石橋正夫

Also, are you sure the name isn't Masao, rather than Masaya?

Thanks! It may very well be Masao. I'm trying to remember from 10 years ago, that IS his website however. Thanks!

If it's any consolation I lived in Sendai for 5 years and that clinic is on very high ground to the north of the city.

Friends there tell me most of the city is basically back to normally except the the eastern coastal suburbs which we know all too much about.

I think I just found their son on Facebook. I'm not sure if he checks it as he only has 5 friends, but I sent him a message and the info sounds right from what I remember, and he looks like his mother.
