Today, millions of Egyptians went out to vote for or against a proposed set of constitutional amendments. What is significant is that this is by far the largest turnout ever seen in any Arab country-and significantly, this is a free vote. Prior to the 25th January Revolution, voting was difficult-apart from the electoral fraud the regime also had obstacles in place to discourage people from voting. Today, practically everyone I know went to vote.
It was extremely crowded-the infrastructure in place could not cope with all these people. I expect facilities will be expanded in time for the upcoming elections.
