Floating Debris From Japan’s Tsunami

Looks like there are massive islands of floating debris from the tsunami and floating across the Pacific Ocean and are heading towards North America and Hawaii.

They are trying to figure out ways to break it up or get it to sink.

I'm sure there are many storms that will break up the bigger clumps... and they'll join the millions of other bits of junk circulating in the Pacific.

Interesting to read here about some calculations from a decade ago, looking at the dispersal of sea-borne junk from the US and Japan with much the same conclusion... 3 years to cross the Pacific.
