Gift For Somebody You Don't Like

Tue Jun 21, 2011 2:51 pm

Do you think this is a good gift for somebody I don't like? Or would I risk getting that thing thrown at my head and suffer cuts and a severe concussion?

Opinions, suggestions?

Make that 3 screams of "I-want-one!".

The three screams of "I-want-one!" illustrate the point I wanted to make before I even saw what the object was: Sometimes deliberately trying to select a bad gift for someone you don't like can backfire and that person likes your off-the-wall gift better than anything else they get.

If you want him or her to know how you feel, give them a complimentary three month gym membership and tell them you think he or she really needs it. A Kim jong-il pot may be too subtle, or even worse appreciated.

Unless, of course, the person in question is a neurotic gym rat who is constantly inviting family members, friends, neighbors, passing acquaintances, and total strangers to "Check out my abs!", in which case three months of gym membership would be considered the best gift ever.

But "seriously"; do you want this person to notice your dislike? Or do just wanna get an easy, fast, cheap idea because this person doesn't deserve anything better?

Also, most important, why don't you like this person?

I think it was a news website, not a store but if I am really going to pick this as a gift, I guess I will find it.

I am not going to go into detail why I don't like the person because I don't think that would be fair but it has a bit to do with being bossy, and I figure so is the "Dear Leader" (or the "General" as he is called now, I think).
Hence I thought the gift would be ambivalent: It would hint at my "beef" I have with the person but could be meant as a purely humerous gift as well.

I have to admit I am a bit flabbergasted how many of you would like to have this "crackpot-tea-pot" (nice!). While I think it is funny, it is at the same time effing ugly. I would hide that thing at some dark place or "accidentially" drop it.

Of course you could only drink Earl Grey tea from a pot like that. You see, proper tea is theft.

Broken, crushed items.

Clothes that don't fit, to big or to small, bad colors, dated designs, dirty clothes.

Religious items for those not of of the same faith the giver.

Clock for an elder.

Vacuum cleaner, sewing machine, pots and pans for your girl, in most cases.

month gym membership

Definitely that, nothing like the holidays or birthday to tell that special someone, hay you're outta shape.

A movie or book that does not interest the receiver.

A snack bouquet for your girl.

Give their kid a free lab puppy. That way, to get rid of it, they have to break their child's heart.

I love my labradoodle, but lab puppies are one of the most destructive forces in the universe! A nice, friendly, hyperactive and extremely fast-growing lab puppy as a surprise gift? It's PERFECT for your worst enemy!

Yeah, I see. However the tea-pot would just be perfect for your person as you wrote that he/she is bossy though it is pricy.

I know you aren't serious, but I am dog lover (goes especially for retrievers and dalmatians) and it would break my heart to give a lab puppy away.
Besides, I would never give somebody an animal bigger than a goldfish as a gif.
Wait, did I say goldfish ... ?

Bedtime now. The person could of course have my upcoming nightmare as a gift.

who buys anyone they don't like a gift?

Frame them for a crime they didn't commit yes
Fuck their wife yes
sneak over and put lots of open home/forclosure/for sale signs on their front lawn/fence yes

But really, why by them a gift - especially one worth $1200 and is actually quite cool?
