Learned A New Gay Term Today

Wed Jul 13, 2011 5:35 pm

In my over 40 yrs, 25 as a card carrying homo, I've heard a lot of terms: greek, twink, chicken, chicken hawk, ....etc......

I never heard of this one.

OK, lets say you have 2 guys; Sebastian and Pablo. Sebastian is pitching and Pablo is catching, lets say that goes on for 20 minutes. Now if they were to suddenly change places, there's a term for this?

According to Wikipedia this is a FLIP FLOP

per Top, bottom and versatile, a role reversal between two men during a single sexual encounter

Never heard that, is anyone else familiar with that term?

Brings a whole new meaning (and apparent level of intimacy) to the phrase when it's used by politicians...

I've heard it. But did we need to devote an entire thread to this? There will always be new terms you didn't know and new ones that arise as time goes on.

I'm familiar with the term 'flip'... which can be used in a variety of ways, 'flip flop', 'flip f***', etc. Nothing new there.

However, an unfamiliar term I just recently came across for the first time is 'thruple'... I assume that's a new term to describe a relationship involving 3 guys (aka polyamorous relationship)? (Which, by the way, is so 2005  )

Ah yes, I am familiar with that term. I've seen it used in the synopses of certain, um, "art films" that I have watched.

I have only heard the second term. Not the term in question. New to me! I thought flip-flops were what people wore with jeans and kahkis. You know. The people I want to slap upside the head because it looks so bad.

The term is really used, but I never heard anyone using it in reality. Did you miss the Desperate Housewives episode where the gay guy explained to Gaby how his boyfriend was trying to flip her husband?

I think the official nickname was FLIPPER! He could flip me anytime. Rarrr

I really haven't heard that term. I like the thread starter, this is the first time I hear about it. I mean I have heard flip flop being used before but not for that. I haven't watched DHW in awhile. I believe I stop watching at the end of season 4. I have no clue what is going on.

Haha, flipper. As long as he doesn't do dolphin sounds. I guess I need to start watching to see who could flip you anytime.

If you like the term "flipper" may I introduce you to the "spatula."

Spatula - a heterosexual woman who date a series of men, all of whom announce that they are gay shortly after dating this woman. "My friend Stephanie the spatula, she flipped another one."

And I did get to overhear a f/a convo once where the woman talked about how she kept ending up having sex with "gay" male f/as. I named her the anti-spatula.

Actually versatile is really more a label for someone that bottoms and tops. Flip-Flopping is a sexual act, when you switch up it during the same ummm 'session'.

Hence versatile people flip-flop... same thing for me.

True, however versatile people might not always flip-flop every time they have sex was more the point I was trying to make.

All flip-floppers are versatile, however, not all versatile people will flip-flop (be both a top and a bottom during a single session.)

I've heard of this term for years, but rarely in real life. I find that it's mainly used in the porn arena to describe a "scene."
