Bye Social Live, Bye Work, Hello Skyrim!

Thu Nov 17, 2011 12:58 pm

I'm not really a gamer, but every few years a game comes out that makes me remember I have an Xbox 360 for something else than watching movies. In 2006 it was Oblivion, few years ago GTA:IV, last year Red Dead Redemption..and now.....SKYRIM.. Probably the best game I have ever played, period. The sheer size, beauty, almost unlimited possibilities and the complete freedom to play the game like you want has an enormous pull on me. A friend of mine also has the game now for a few days and our experiences have been completely different, I love that!

I'm currently at work and actually thinking what I'm gonna do in that marvelous world tonight. Just wandering around and loot some caves? Get on with my quests for the College of Winterhold? Finally clean up some Miscellaneous quests? Invest some time in Smithing, Enchanting and Alchemy? Or splurge 5000 Gold, buy a house and just start decorating the interior  Following the main quest is not in the cards, I'm saving that for a much later time.

Seeing as there were 7 million copies sold on the launch day there must be a few A.nutters out there completely destroying their social and work live with this game at the moment?

If so; what have your experience been like?

For the people that have no idea what I am talking about:

It's difficult to ever feel completely satisfied with a play session of Skyrim. There's always one more pressing quest, one more unexplored tract of land, one more skill to increase, one more butterfly to catch. It's a mesmerizing game that draws you into an finely crafted fictional space packed with content that consistently surprises. The changes made since Oblivion are many, and result in a more focused and sensible style of play, where the effects of every decision are easily seen. Featuring the same kind of thrilling freedom of choice The Elder Scrolls series is known for along with beautiful visuals and a stirring soundtrack, playing Skyrim is a rare kind of intensely personal, deeply rewarding experience, and one of the best role-playing games yet produced.

I would like to try it out, but at first glance, I can see that this genre is usally not something for me.

I hope to get Uncharted 3 for christmas and also looking forward to GTA V. Hmm maybe also Battlefield 3.
