Prompted by Atrude777 in the WN/FL SOC thread, http://www.airliners.net/aviation-fo...ral_aviation/read.main/5347702/#15; this thread is intended for questions/concerns for those carrying the FL Barclays VISA card. Since the subject primarily will be focusing on the credit cards/companies rather than the actual air carriers themselves, I decided to post this thread here rather than in the Aviation Forum.
For those that don't know, the FL Barclays Bank VISA card has no annual fee whereas the WN Chase Bank VISA card has an annual fee ranging from $69-$99 depending on the type of card one holds.
I currently carry a FL Barclays Platinum VISA card which I first got back when FL was expanding PHL service/operations. My primary reason for not getting a WN Chase VISA card was because there was no card available that didn't charge an annual fee. Note: all my other credit cards I have in my possession do NOT have an annual fee, so such cards do indeed exist.
With the SOC between WN & FL taking effect in early March; my question, from the other thread, is how will FL Barclays VISA card holders be impacted by this change? While Alex mentioned to me regarding Barclays dropping all AirTran-related advertisements; it seems a bit odd that I have not yet seen nor received anything from Barclays regarding the upcoming change. If I wasn't following airlines newswise (especially WN & FL); what ever changes Barclays is planning would be an unexpected surprise.
That said, will Barclays offer its current AirTran VISA cardholders the following options?
1. Maintain their Barclays VISA card but no longer have any airline-related benefits or perks. That means my next VISA card from them (which will be renewed in the fall of 2013) will no longer have a FL 717 pictured on it.
2. The option of transferring their accounts and Points to a WN Chase VISA account but be subject to whatever fees and policies that Chase Bank has.
Any relevant comments and/or feedback would be appreciated.
