RIP Sarah Burke

Sat Jan 21, 2012 9:09 pm

Sarah Burke died on Thursday from an injury she received while training in the super pipe in Park City, Utah. This is tragic news for the ski community. Sarah Burke was a leader in women's free skiing, and a likely contender to win Skiing Super pipe in the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. I was lucky enough to have had the chance to ski with her a few years ago at Momentum Ski Camp. She was an extremely nice, caring person. She truly inspires me.
Here is an article about the injury:

As well, her injuries generated a substantial bill which the public as well as one of her sponsors has reached out to help her family cover. More can be learned about that here:

I too was saddened to hear of her death.

Thanks for posting.
Inspiration, move me brightly! Light the song with sense and color.
Hold away despair, more than this I will not ask.
Faced with mysteries dark and vast, statements just seem vain at last.
Some rise, some fall, some climb, to get to Terrapin!

Interesting article on her injury, however sad. Initially when I heard about the accident I thought it was similar to Natasha Richardson's "bleed and die", but apparently not quite the same.

Such a shame when young talent is taken from us, whatever the field.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
