I am not able to watch the whole episode right now, but they are talking about what I have believed all along: Westerners are scared of a minority of people. There are Christian extremists as well. But, for some reason, they do not represent the entire Christian faith the way the few extremists are shown by the media to represent all if Islam.

It is also interesting to point out that Islam, Christianity and Judeism share some prophets. Not only that, Islam understands that Jesus was a great prophet. Except for the few extremists, Islam is a very solid and peaceful religion. Thank you for sharing the link!

And I deeply thank you for sharing your comments on this post. Your exactly right and I agree with you. Many people are just ignorant and dont even bother to learn the truth because they do not have a sincere heart like us and many others. Yea, western media piles everything up and twist and turn their views to their own desires and not the truth. They portray false information that is so absurd and it also shows how the media itself may be so ignorant in the west. Peace be unto you! God Bless!

Sure, Judism, Christianity and Islam all started from Abraham, I have the book and it is a very interesting read. And you would think thay should all be similar in their beliefs, correct. But then why do we have these reports from women that grew up in the Muslim world.

Joys of Muslim Women by Nonie Darwish

In the Muslim faith a Muslim man can marry a child as young as 1 year old and have sexual intimacy with this child. Consummating the marriage by 9. The dowry is given to the family in exchange for the woman (who becomes his slave) and for the purchase of the private parts of the woman, to use her as a toy.

Even though a woman is abused she can not obtain a divorce. To prove rape, the woman must have (4) male witnesses. Often after a woman has been raped, she is returned to her family and the family must return the dowry. The family has the right to execute her (an honor killing) to restore the honor of the family. Husbands can beat their wives 'at will' and he does not have to say why he has beaten her.

The husband is permitted to have (4 wives) and a temporary wife for an hour (prostitute) at his discretion.

The Shariah Muslim law controls the private as well as the public life of the woman.

In the West World (America) Muslim men are starting to demand Shariah Law so the wife can not obtain a divorce and he can have full and complete control of her. It is amazing and alarming how many of our sisters and daughters attending American Universities are now marrying Muslim men and submitting themselves and their children unsuspectingly to the Shariah law.

By passing this on, enlightened American women may avoid becoming a slave under Shariah Law. Ripping the West in Two. Author and lecturer Nonie Darwish says the goal of radical Islamists is to impose Shariah law on the world, ripping Western law and liberty in two.

She recently authored the book, Cruel and Usual Punishment: The Terrifying Global Implications of Islamic Law.

Darwish was born in Cairo and spent her childhood in Egypt and Gaza before immigrating to America in 1978, when she was eight years old. Her father died while leading covert attacks on Israel . He was a high-ranking Egyptian military officer stationed with his family in Gaza.

When he died, he was considered a "shahid," a martyr for jihad. His posthumous status earned Nonie and her family an elevated position in Muslim society.

But Darwish developed a skeptical eye at an early age. She questioned her own Muslim culture and upbringing. She converted to Christianity after hearing a Christian preacher on television.
In her latest book, Darwish warns about creeping sharia law - what it is, what it means, and how it is manifested in Islamic countries.

For the West, she says radical Islamists are working to impose sharia on the world. If that happens, Western civilization will be destroyed. Westerners generally assume all religions encourage a respect for the dignity of each individual. Islamic law (Sharia) teaches that non-Muslims should be subjugated or killed in this world.

Peace and prosperity for one's children is not as important as assuring that Islamic law rules everywhere in the Middle East and eventually in the world.

While Westerners tend to think that all religions encourage some form of the golden rule, Sharia teaches two systems of ethics - one for Muslims and another for non-Muslims. Building on tribal practices of the seventh century, Sharia encourages the side of humanity that wants to take from and subjugate others.

While Westerners tend to think in terms of religious people developing a personal understanding of and relationship with God, Sharia advocates executing people who ask difficult questions that could be interpreted as criticism.

It's hard to imagine, that in this day and age, Islamic scholars agree that those who criticize Islam or choose to stop being Muslim should be executed. Sadly, while talk of an Islamic reformation is common and even assumed by many in the West, such murmurings in the Middle East are silenced through intimidation.

While Westerners are accustomed to an increase in religious tolerance over time, Darwish explains how petro dollars are being used to grow an extremely intolerant form of political Islam in her native Egypt and elsewhere.
(In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the U.S. to elect the President by themselves! Rest assured they will do so... You can look at how they have taken over several towns in the USA .. Dearborn Mich. is one... and there are others...)

I think everyone in the U.S. should be required to read this, but with the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on!

It is too bad that so many are disillusioned with life and Christianity to accept Muslims as peaceful.. some may be but they have an army that is willing to shed blood in the name of Islam.. the peaceful support the warriors with their finances and own kind of patriotism to their religion. While America is getting rid of Christianity from all public sites and erasing God from the lives of children the Muslims are planning a great jihad on America.

I would like to know how many Muslims actually practice Sharia law out of all Muslims. Over the past couple of decades, the only people I have seen that come close to wanting Sharia for the whole world are a band of outlaws called al-Qaida. It's like saying: Because there is a sect of the Mormon church that still believes polygamy is law, all of Christianity believes this. Or, because a sect of Christianity believes in serpent handling as a means of being closer to God, every Christian believes it. It is simply not true. Just because one small sect believes something does not mean the majority believes it.

Eh, I see it as the new "Red Scare." There is no way (and pardon the generalization I'm gonna use) that secular-Europe and "Christian-land" America are just gonna sit back and allow Sharia law to destroy the Western culture. If anything, there is less Sharia/more moderate Sharia happening in the Middle East. Sure, there are a few "honor killings" in America, and I'm sure when one American Muslim demands Sharia here everyone assumes that they're taking over, but really, this fear is almost tin foil hat-ish. The Arab spring, to me, shows that the people want more moderation. I know Egypt, for example, elected the Muslim Brotherhood in some numbers, but I want to see how that pans out before I dub that evil Sharia law taking over that country. Reading the accounts of average, random Joes in Muslim countries, many of them are very moderate and are sick of their governments and how far Sharia goes. I was conversing with an Iranian yesterday and I'll tell you, that country and its people are WAAYYYY different that our MSM says.

tl;dr Sharia isn't what we should fear, we should fear our knee-jerk, irrational reactions to it

I see it like this:

My fiancée is Catholic, I´m atheist. My fiancée goes to church from time to time (if she feels a spiritual need), but we have been together as a couple since nearly 12 years now without being married and we use contraceptives for family planning.

My ex, who came from a West African secular Muslim family , had a similar attitude, she would go to the Mosque or pray if she felt like it. She only changed when she converted to become a dogmatic evangelical Christian, who had to consult her pastor before any decision (one reason why we eventually divorced).

Both of them don´t drink alcohol, my ex because she isn´t used to it due to her Muslim upbringing, and my fiancée because she reacts allergic to alcohol (a genetic thing, which she, as a Chinese-Filipina, shares with many East asians and Native Americans). This suits me fine, since I rarely drink myself and I don´t like to be drunk.

Most Muslims I know are of a similar type, raised in an easygoing Islamic faith, but quite secular and pragmatic.

Obviously I would soon get into an argument with a fundamentalist Islamic person, but the same applies to any overtly religious person, especially if they try to convert me or discriminate against me for not sharing their belief.

Similarly these peoplewould not hang out with me either.

I would hope to believe the information from the Deen show and really do agree with you and believe that there are a lot more moderate Muslims out there that are tired of the oppression from their Governments and the radicals. I just wish more of them would stand up and rally against the radicals.

The media does not help the situation at all by only reporting the negative goings on and not the positive ones. Journalism today is mostly opinions and not a lot of facts.

I agree that the media doesn't help matters...

Actually, I think we saw an entire revolution--the Arab Spring. Granted, the focus was getting the corrupt dictators out, but buried is the popular movement for a more moderate Islam, such as Turkey. I'm a little ignorant of the details, but I am pretty busy and it's hard finding the real information out (I try not to rely on the MSM)

Arab Spring had/has nothing to do with religion. It has to do with changing government. Those changes just happen to be taking place in countries where Islam is the majority (or only) religion. One has nothing to do with the other.

When I lived in Portland, I delivered pizzas. This was five years ago. On the far southwest side, there are apartment complexes that are so diverse it is fascinating. In one stop at one complex, I delivered to Jews, Athiests and Muslims. The Muslim family I delivered to had the wife open the door, but I had to interact with a boy of about 8 years old. So what? That is their custom. They never forced it on me. Just like the Jews had to have their pizza cut with a clean knife. So what? That complex was only about 5 blocks from my apartment and I never heard one police call or anything from there. One of the quietest neighborhoods ever. It was beautiful!

I agree, I didn't word it too well. The main objective (I called it focus in my last post) was to get the corrupt dictators out. But with the dictators out, there is a lot of talk of reverting to a less Sharia-ish government, somewhat emulating Turkey.

Plus, in a lot of Muslim countries, it's hard to talk about government without talking about religion
