Maserati: New Record Atlantic Crossing

Tue Feb 14, 2012 12:21 am

Maserati, skippered by Giovanni Soldini, set today a new record for single-keel sailboats crossing the Atlandic ocean from Cadiz (Spain) to San Salvador (3884 miles) in 10 days, 23 hours, 9 minutes and 2 seconds, at an average (!!) speed of 17.6 knots.

You can get a taste of what it feels like watching this video

Well done, Maserati team! You and Vega made my day! Big grin

Damn that video makes it look like they are flying.

That would be an awesome thing do do.

Sometimes all you can do is look them in the eye and ask " how much did your mom drink when she was pregnant with you?"

Pretty cool to think that while the rest of us are hauling arse above them at 30K+ feet, they are whipping along at sea level in what we would normally think of as "a lot of water"!
