Self Gloss: Might Be More Famous In 200 Years!

Thu Mar 01, 2012 3:44 am

So, here is the scoop, I have a book of poetry I am closing in on the publication process with. It consists of 26 poems, and is roughly 34 pages long. I had already had to pass up one publisher, as they requested more deniro than I had. Am starting off and on shopping around in the Austin area, and hope to get it in print by the end of the year.

And one funny note, should I get it published, the knowing how it goes and what it takes is so far easily enough to make me not want to try it again. I shall be the next Harper Lee! (Well, save for all of the literary awards.)

And, that of course, is how I might be famous in 200 years.

Wish me luck!

The plural of Airbus is Airbuses. Airbii is not a word, and doesn't even make sense.
There is no 787-800, nor 787-900 or 747-800. It's 787-8, 787-9, and 747-8.
A321neoLR is also unnecessary. It's simply A321LR.

Can you blame them? You can never have enough DeNiro.

Those of us who made fun of him are all going to feel like royal d!cks when this book winds up being the Amazon #1 top seller of 2013...

Good luck, man, in all seriousness. May your book fill cargo bays.

So what you're telling us is that you are self-publishing your own book and are paying a publisher for the production/printing of the book. That's actually quite a different process than having a Publisher accept your work for publication where the publisher takes the financial risk and you'd get royalties. Self-publishing can bring higher financial rewards if sales are good, but you take the first risk.

Good luck anyway.

Either way it happens, it won't be a money maker or a success for me, anyway. Mostly the reason I plan to do so only once. Not many people seem to understand poetry anyway. Perhaps that is why they never truly praise nor critique the author's works until long after they have passed: they were afraid to say it to their face all along!
