VC10 At 50 - Brooklands 29 June 2012

Hello people,

Is anyone planning to go to the VC10 at 50 event at Brooklands?

"A celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the first flight of the VC10 prototype from Brooklands in 1962, featuring a flypast by 101 Squadron (subject to operational requirements) and the opening of a new VC10 exhibition in the restored fuselage of G-ARVM. The draft outline of the day, hosted by Max Kingsley-Jones, Editor of Airline Business, is as follows:

10.30am Welcome & coffee
10.45am Speakers including Chris Orlebar, Mike Bannister, Alistair Pugh and other pilots and engineers
12.00 Exhibition Opening & Group Photograph
12.45pm Lunch
1.30pm Afternoon session including speakers from the floor, reminiscences and films
3.00pm Tea & VC10 Birthday Cake

Timings are subject to the timing of the flypast."

Sounds like it would be an amazing day!
I do quite enjoy a spot of flying - more so when it's not in Economy!

Man, I wish I could attend! This was one of my favorite aircraft. I feel fortunate to have actually flown on one, a BOAC VC-10. I'll be hoping to see news and videos about this anniversary celebration.

Due to the Atlantic being where it is, I'll have to take a pass.  


I knew the "10' was getting on but 50, my goodness. A classic beauty if there ever was one. Unfortunately never had the privilege of actually being on one, but much admired both at YUL & YYZ.
Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.
