It Works Body Wraps

Tue Apr 24, 2012 8:26 pm

A friend of mine was saying how she lost 3 inches off her waist in 45 mins by simply doing a single session of It Works Body Wrap, or whatever it's called exactly. Having never heard of this thing, I googled it and apparently most people are able to lose fat quickly, literally sitting on their behinds. It's supposed to detox the body or whatnot. They claim that you don't lose water weight, but I have trouble believing that.

My question to you who know more about this than I do, how can this thing be healthy???

Look at it this way: if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Sounds like total bovine excrement to me....it might do the job temporarily, but the body isn't designed to work that way. Unless you throw Botox or similar into the mix!

Im sure Doc can elaborate.

This hippo says thanks but no thanks! I'd feel like a wiener in a blanky. At some of your spas they actually have a device that looks like straight out of a James Bond movie called the Alpha Massage Capsule, It looks like a big ass-ed egg. They enclose you in that thing with your neck and head out and program it to heat you up and rub you. They also do body raps on the victims and stick them in the capsule to heat up and shake down. People swear by it. However, a friend of mine tried it not to lose weight. She's a bean pole and in great shape but thought it would be relaxing. It was anything but.
I imagine Bond getting trapped in that thing and the villain saying Goodbye Mr. Bond I hope you enjoy being shaken and baked for your last memory on this Earth.

I actually can't. It does work and gives visible results (albeit temporary). My guess is that it somehow dehydrates the underlying tissues, but I'm not sure how.

No idea. Didn't ask. But from an online search, it seems like you do lose weight as well.

I can't imagine that things like that in the long run are any good for you, though

A) Exercise
B) Diet (or healthy food habits in the long run)
C) Both A and B
D) Bariatric surgery

Anything other than the above is not healthy, does not work in the long run and are only for the simple minded.

E) drugs that limit fat uptake by the intestines

They work too, but they can't be taken for long periods, at least not without medical surveillance. One side-effect is oily stool – which is a good thing, because it reminds the patient that he or she is not eating healthy.

One kg (or 2.2 pounds) of fat tissue has 9000 kcal or 37600 kJ of energy. The body really hates giving away such a treasure trove full of energy.

Bariatric surgery is not really healthy in a way that surgery, in any form and for whatever reason, is something that should be avoided at all cost, especially for something as trivial as weight loss!

It should only be reserved for extreme cases in which the patient risks grave associated health issues, not for every guy or girl who wants an instant and painless solution to his/her eating problem.

I'd say stick to A, B and C, they work in 99,9% of the time. And no, there is no miracle remedy to quickly remove dozen of pounds of excess fat that the body accumulated in months and years of bad habits...
