Why do we lose the good musicians too soon and the ones we wish would die won't?

I'm not the biggest Beastie Boys fan in the world, but I do like a bunch of their songs, and they were definitely huge. Their latest video, with Will Ferrell, Jack Black, Elijah Wood, etc., cracked me up.
I just watched the full length of it a little while ago. Jack Black as the MCA of "the future" was alright, but Danny McBride portraying the "young" MCA was awesome (This is what Kenny Powers would have been probably been like had he grown up in NYC as opposed to North Carolina..).
I remember when "Licensed To Ill" came out back when I was in 6th grade and over 25 years later, that album still kicks butt. To me, every track is killer, no filler. I used to go to a club here in Atlanta that has a long-running Thursday night retro night and if the DJ
really wanted to get the crowd going, he'd put "Brass Monkey" or "No Sleep Till Brooklyn"
