Clue me in, what is the Governor General Awards? About time Rush got rewarded for something since that horse shit rock and roll hall of fame seems to keep ignoring their existance - they'll probably induct Lady Gaga before Rush.

My pleasure...

"Governor General's Awards
The Chancellery of Honours administers the Governor General’s Academic Medal (established in 1873 by Lord Dufferin); the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award (established in 1996 by the Right Honourable Roméo LeBlanc); and the Governor General’s Northern Medal (established in 2005 by the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson).

Other governor general’s awards were created to celebrate the arts, literature, humanities, sciences and sports. More than 60 awards and trophies bear the names of governors general.

The Awards in Arts and Awards in Science and Humanities sections are administered by independent organizations but are still presented by the governor general."

The fact that Rush or Iron Maiden have not been inducted proves it. Don't get me wrong, I like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Guns N Roses, but them getting inducted before those other two bands is pretty sad. Then there are plenty of other people on the list that should not even be considered:

Neil Diamond 2011??? isn't he country???
Abba 2010???? disco????
Talking Heads 2002???

Most of the stuff isn't even under the category of rock, might have been a predecessor but not actual rock.

Of those three, I'd say Abba doesn't necessarily belong. Neil Diamond and Talking Heads I have no issues with.

Actually, I don't have issues with whomever the R&RHOF wants to induct. At the end of the day, who really cares? Rush certainly doesn't.

Back on topic, nice to see photos of Rush with Pete Townshend and Matt Stone.
I'm watching Jeopardy. The category is worst Madonna songs. "This one from 1987 is terrible".

No. Neil Diamond is easy listening / pop vocals.

Has Cory Hart been included in this event?

Seems like the majority of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame stuff is Motown or the stuff from the 40s and 50s that came out before rock. Half of those groups I never even heard of and weren't some just one hit wonders?
