RIP Richard Dawson

Sun Jun 03, 2012 4:48 pm

This man, host of Family Feud in the Eighties, had swagger. Watching him flirt with the ladies was a lesson each night.

Rest in peace Richard Dawson!
So sad to read of this. I watched his game show after school hundreds of times as a kid.

I liked him on Hogan's Heroes, but my favorite role of his was as Killian in The Running Man:

Some parts of which were sampled in the song "Temple Of Dreams" by Messiah:

With me it was Hogans Heroes - came on right after I got home school...

I especially liked him in Running Man, very evil...

And in a strange coincidence he died exactly 16 years to the day after Ray Combs (whom replaced Dawson) committed suicide. I liked Ray Combs, I thought he was really funny. I was shocked when he committed suicide.

Evil incarnate in that one. Although Charlize Theron might give him a run for the money in "Snow White". Brilliant. Movie only so-so.

LOL, could you imagine a game show host kissing every female contestant in 2012. He was the man.

I used to wonder if he ever got cold sores or herpes from kissing all of those women. In my silly teenage mind back in the 80s, I thought that was the reason he left the show.

I wasn't really a fan of Family Feud or Hogan's Hero's,but every morning I would get up and watch him on Match Game.He was great and along with Charles Nelson Reilly and Brett Summers gave Match Game the huge following it has today. Most MG shows are seen on Game Show Network. But he was the master of the quick quips. He was great.

R.I.P. Richard Dawson

Good point - that's a lot of different bugs mixing together. He must have had a hell of an immune system by the end of the series.

Got to hand it to him though - he kissed the heifers and the hotties all the same. RIP

He also had several movie roles besides "The Running Man". He was in "The Devils Brigade" amoung others.

It may be a good thing he will miss the remake of Running Man that is comming out. Remakes tend to be hatchet jobs.

If you never expose yourself to something you will never build up an immunity!

When I heard this, my first thought was: He has been alive this whole time??

ummm... flirt? Not really. I know you (general terms, not STT in particular) may think this in bad taste, but I believe he was drunk for his entire run on Family Feud. He sure sounded and looked like it. He may have been so drunk he thought he was the cat's meow, so to speak.

gay and gay. Just sayin...

He certainly had an influance on American game show television.

Hogan's Heroes. Match Game. Family Feud. The Running Man.

Richard Dawson was, simply, the best.

Rest in peace, sir. You were one of a kind and will be missed.
