Hi!

Most of those are new to me but I liked seeing Joao Gilberto in there. I am a really big fan of his and bossa nova in general. There's a Celine Dion song I like called "Porque tu m'aime encore which I think she recorded in English for one of her English language albums. I prefer the French version much better.

Many thanks,

One of my favorite is Luiz Bonfá's "Manhã de Carnaval" from the movie Orfeu Negro.

I wonder if anyone here knew that Frank Sinatra's "My Way" is a (very rough) translation of a French song "Comme d'habitude"

I love this song!
I'm still waiting for it to be translated in to English.

Ue o Muite Arukou by Kyu Sakamoto
The only Japanese song to reach #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The song title was changed to Sukiyaki when it was released internationally. Unfortunately Kyu Sakamoto died in the crash of JAL 123.

Sukiyaki by A Taste of Honey
The English version is not a translation of the original and has been covered by many others.

I was just thinking about this song and was going to post it in this thread. Yes, unfortunately Kyu Sakamoto parished along with several other important Japanese people in the JAL 747 crash.
