Mixed Metaphors

Thu Jun 14, 2012 6:10 pm

He’s a little green behind the ears.

A loose tongue spoils the broth.

It’s all moth-eared.

I can read him like the back of my book.

From now on, I’m watching everything you do with a fine-tuned comb.

It’s as easy as falling off a piece of cake.

He’s like a duck out of water.

These hemorrhoids are a real pain in the neck.

It’s time to grab the bull by the tail and look him in the eye.

I wouldn’t be caught dead there with a ten-foot pole.

I hope he gets his curve ball straightened out.

It’s time to step up to the plate and lay your cards on the table.

He’s burning the midnight oil from both ends.

You can’t change the spots on an old dog.

It sticks out like a sore throat.

It’s like looking for a needle in a hayride.

People are dying like hotcakes.

You can’t go in there cold turkey with egg on your face.

We have to get all our ducks on the same page.

We shouldn't drop anchor until we're out of the woods.

I guess I picked the wrong day to quit...

IMHO, it did become a metaphor by the end of the movie.

That's the final nail in the camel's back. (heard that from a basketball commentator)
"If I don't manage to fly, someone else will. The spirit wants only for there to be flying. As for who happens to do it, in that he has only a passing interest."

Now that you've let the can of worms out of the bag.

As Johnny Five said in Short Circuit 2: Piece of corn, can of cake.
The plural of Airbus is Airbuses. Airbii is not a word.
There is no 787-800, nor 787-900 or 747-800. It's 787-8, 787-9, and 747-8.
A321neoLR is also unnecessary. It's simply A321LR.
Airplanes don't have isles, they have aisles.

Wasn't that a GW (not Washington) quote? Just for kicks I used the Google machine and surprisingly.....or maybe not.

I looked to see what I could hear.

We will burn that bridge when we come to it.

Some of my favourite Yogi Berra quotes :

If the world was perfect, it wouldn't be.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it.
The future ain't what it used to be.

That dude was funny as hell.
