Getting The Run Around With Movers.

Tue Jun 26, 2012 2:03 pm

It's been a month since I had some stuff moved from Texas to NYC. I email and call and get the run around. They claim to be with the better business bureau. The BBB has no record of them.

Their city search and yelp reviews all are 1 star. At this point I'm thinking they ran off with 2 flat screens and a bunch of my stuff. I have home owners insurance. Any advice for the next step would be appreciated.

Call the cops, both in Texas and NY, not sure who has juristiction. Probably texas. File the police reports, and then make a claim with insurance. Sorry to hear about this.

Hopefully something will come of it, but at this point it will probably be you and the insurance company battlleing it out.

Out of curiosity, could you message me the company so I don't make this mistake when I move?
Older than I just was ,and younger than I will soo be.

Appreciate the advice and information. I got a work trip to China tomorrow and plan on doing something about this when I get back. My work did this move for me so I had no say in research or choosing a moving company.

Have you spoken to your work about it?

Your employer needs to be informed as they probably have insurance. They also should know so they will not use the company again.

I would definitely fill with the police and the insurance company. Your insurance agent should be informed before your trip so they can start their presses. Much can be taken care of via the internet while you are on your trip.

Give your work all the info before you leave, and have them sort it out by the time you get back.

If your work hired the movers, etc., it's really their responsibility to fix their mistake.

With that said, you should definitely file a police and insurance reports, as the stuff is your property.
I'm watching Jeopardy. The category is worst Madonna songs. "This one from 1987 is terrible".

I guess the other big question is: Is there a problem between your employer and the movers? It could be that they have not paid the movers for other moves or are in a dispute with them on what is being charged, etc.

Good luck and safe travels.
