Most Embarrasing Music You Like Listening To!

Fri Jun 29, 2012 10:31 pm

Hi!

There are guys who have great taste in the music they like listening to. I am not one of them! I'm probably much worse than most but I think many guys have an album or two they like which is not the most best-reviewed stuff.

I'll start with one I'm listening to at the moment the album "Natural" by Peter Andre from the 1990s. Before he became a reality tv fool he actually could sing and had good songwriters. If you like pop, Natural is a good mix of fast and slow songs.

http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Peter-...r=1-1&keywords=Peter+Andre+Natural

So is there anything you like which is incredibly uncool or am I just a freak!

Many thanks,

Pierre

I've mostly* given up worrying what people think of the music I listen to. Life's too short not to indulge in musical guilty pleasures - after all, they're only guilty because someone's decided they're not cool and everyone else has nodded sagely in agreement. So my music collection runs from choral music to cheese with stops at schmaltz, ska and symphony, with a fair few stretches of driving firmly in the middle of the road. I'm listening to Hall and Oates now, in fact.

*that said, my work colleagues don't really need to know I have a small selection of songs by S Club 7 in iTunes. What they don't know can't hurt...me (much)!

You'd think ITunes wouldn't carry S Club 7 as they're not cool enough for the Apple brand! I was never really into their music but to be honest I never paid attention. I was too busy drooling over the girls when they were on TV!

Many thanks,

Pierre

After 2 grandkids I can't deny The Wiggles.

They are actually on a pre-retirement tour and my 11 year old granddaughter is talking about seeing them.

I'll let their Pun Rock Dad take them.

And then there is Princess Lullaby.

That was actually put out in Australia and is designed to help kids on chemo to relax. Bought it on a Qantas flight (it's also a fund raising CD) and it has been a blessing for the grandkids.

I'd tell you, but I'm much to embarrassed to share

Just kidding, uh some girly songs have known to have found their way onto my ipod (Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson, and the like) but I think I even have some N-Sync song that reminds me of skate night when I was in elementary school... yep, that's probably my worse lol
Ironically I have never flown a Delta MD-90 :)

I like to believe that I have pretty good musical tastes, but I also acknowledge I have some guilty pleasures. A remarkable one is Selena Gomez & The Scene's A Year Without Rain.

I love K-Pop. There's your embarrassing part.
IDK what Girls Generation or Kara did to themselves, they still are the sexiest Asian girls ever. EVER. EVER.

I also like a lot of J-rock.

Girls Generation are amazing looking. One of my old schoolfriends is now a songwriter and has actually written a hit for them. I used to play keyboards in his band and he was the good looking singer. He wanted to be in a boyband. He never made it but became a successful songwriter instead. I'm still playing on my keyboard!

Many thanks,

Somewhat embrassing but I really dig this chick. I can listen to KT's stuff in almost any mood.

Have huge respect for her as a guitarist, songwriter, and master manipulator of loop pedals.

Maybe some old Ace of Bass that my 5-year-old daughter now loves because it is the first thing alphabetically on my ipod so she keeps picking it and sings along with it...

Or maybe various 80s cheese metal--Great White, White Lion, etc. But it's good stuff...Vito Bratta!

There is nothing embarrassing about that.

She's great. And this cover is much better than the original... (I'll probably take crap for saying that, but at least no one can deny she's a much better singer than Dylan)

VERY embarassing (??)

I mostly like Rock, Metal and Jazz, but since I'm in salsa dancing for a few months, I spend quite some time in latino bars.
And I must admit I like to listen to salsa music of course but also to latino hits like "Danza Kuduro"   . My god, I couldn't have imagined that before !
But ok, it's just for dancing, and girls in latino bars are way hotter than in metal concerts   , and they like dancing with me. That's probably a good reason for me to like this kind of music.

Time to laugh:
In no particular order:

1. Abba: Dancing Queen, there are a couple other Abba tunes I like. Can't think of their titles. But not Waterloo.
2. 1956-Green Door
3. Alvin and the Chipmunks- Witch Doctor
4. The Bantams: cover of a Beetle's hit
5. Purple People Eater Sheb Wooley
6. Roger Miller-King of the Road
7. Johnny CAsh- A Boy Named Sue
8. Wanda Jackson-Fugiama Momma
9. Sweet- Little Willy, Ballroom Blitz (Use to hate both of them now I like them)
10. Spiders and Snakes Jim Stafford.
11. Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood- Jackson
12. Raymond Le Fevre- Soul (can't remember the rest of that title)
13. Nancy Sinatra- These boots are made for walking

A side note, my first cousin who I'm close friends back in the day liked Helen Reddy "I Am Woman." I never let him live that one down! And no he's not Gay, not that there's anything wrong with that!
But Wait! I'll have more of them.

I'm not exactly sure why, but about two weeks ago while driving to an appointment I started singing "She Wants You" by Billie... I have not heard this song in YEARS. I am not British, nor am I overly fond of British Pop, but I had this song stuck in my head all day long... so much so that as soon as I returned home I looked the song up on spotify. I'm sure those Facebook friends of mine who pay attention to my feed have noticed the song appearing in my recent music spot on a daily basis for two weeks now. The only reason I even know of this song is due to a British penpal I was in contact with through the late 90's sending me a track in one of her parcels.. She was in love with the song.

While I am at it... I may as well admit to my enjoyment of the early 90's House/Dance/Club group Deee-lite with their hit "Groove Is in the Heart" and various other tracks which are featured on the mid 90's movie "Party Girl" starring Parker Posey.

Their video was cool. There was a girl with a hot body wearing glasses. Plus, Parker Posey would be one of many hot women I'd "tap that!"

Some more of my sort of embarrassing musical likes (if that statement makes any sense)

Henry Mancini music- "Mr. Lucky," and other "Ultralounge Bachelor Pad" tunes.
Herb Alpert and Tijuana Brass-"Lonley Bull"
Norm Zager Band "Lets All Chant" (Disco era), "Motel Boogie" also another Disco tune (not sure of the group that did this 1970's masterpiece.

The anorexic mod model Twiggy had some hits I really like listening to. Some of her stuff are on my You Tube Playlists!
Quincy Jones-Soul Bosanova (Austin Power's shag music).

From the 1950's "The Martian Hop" (don't remember artist) and the Revels "Dead Man's Stroll" also Tenesee Earnie Ford-"16 Tons."

From the 1970's Charlie Pride "Kiss an Angel Good Morning"

The majority of my music preference is towards most types of rock, however I regularly listen to obscure stuff like Serge Gainsbourg (very rare for an Anglophone Canadian). Lately I've been listening to Sukiyaki (Ue Muite Ariko) by Kyu Sakamoto. Of course, every time I hear it I picture a JAL 747 with it's vertical stab broken off plunging to the ground

Now, she was gorgeous - I can listen to her songs just for the movies (which I cant do with any of the current bimbos).

Oh I've had all sorts from Carly Rae Jepson, to Miley Cyrus. But I've been playing the piano since I was a very small laddie, and I pay more attention to rhythm than anything else so I guess I pick up on certain things that draw me to songs.

MInd you I do have every Katy Perry song going, plus (the Brits will know mainly) that Tulisa - Young song  Silly

On a side note, I have an unhealthy obsession with songs by Marina & the Diamonds. To be fair she is easily one of the best singer/songwriters out of the UK (and Greece incidentally) or more specifically Wales in recent years.

I really don't care what others think of my taste in music. I am a rocker at heart but every once in awhile I slip and listen to things like Ricky Martin, David Cassidy (only two songs), Abba and when my work friends pick up my iPod to see what I am listening to I take a lot of grief. Gotta tell you though. When I had a shot at going out with a Spanish lady, and she heard Ricky Martin playing in my car, it was a go.

Mostly because the 50th aniversary of Telstar is coming up and I had to check out the music that went with the spacecraft.
I'm told "Telstar" was the start of the British musical invasion of the US.
