Any Other Grandfathered Unlimited Data Customers?

Wed Jul 11, 2012 4:09 pm

I'm just wondering if there are any other customers left?

Do you intend to hold onto your data or just bow down to the "man" ?

I have to admit, I was looking at the new verizon "Share Everything" plans; and there is no real costs savings for me. I use around 5gb of data per month, depending on how often I'm working. My monthly plan is 900 mins, unlimited text and data; puts me around $130 a month with taxes and surcharges.

According to verizon's website; for a smartphone with 6gb of data, it's $120. Which includes the unlimited talk and text.

I guess I will have to get use to paying full retail for a phone for the rest of my life, inorder to keep my plan. How about you guys?

I like my plan. It suits me well---even though the minutes are much, much more than I ever use in month.

That's the same plan I have with Verizon as well. Although I get a decent discount through my work on the plan and pay closer to $100/month. I just bought a Samsung Galaxy S3. When I was thinking about getting the new phone I called about my plan and if there was a cheaper one available. Verizon really tried to convince me to switch plans.

In the end, I stuck with unlimited data and figured I'd do that as long as I can.

I think that people who are on family plans benefit the most from this new system. I have an unlimited plan but my data use is pretty low (less than 1GB a month) and so is my wife's. In fact by switching over to the new plans I would end up saving about $20 a month but giving up an unlimited data plan that I hardly make a dent with.

So yes, I will be switching over when I am up for a New Every Two and getting a Galaxy S III

Yes.

I'm using my phone as my home internet now since 4G LTE is just as fast as cable.

The New Every Two plan isn't what it used to be at Verizon. You get hit for a $20 fee when you activate a new phone that cancels out the $20 credit you get for New Every Two. I'd suggest you just get it whenever you want and eat the $20.

Still here as well. I really like it. I pay my part of our family share plan and enjoy as much data as my phone will let me access. I've looked at other plans when I've upgraded and nothing really suits me better.

I don't have to worry about grandfathering - we still get unlimited data over on the Sprint side of the spectrum.

I've still got Verizon's unlimited plan on my iPhone. My wife has an iPad that is on a seperate data plan. The share everything plan will do nothing for me, but when I get an iPad later trhis year, we may go ahead and swap over, since I will probably spend more time on the iPad than the phone.

I'll run the numbers when I get closer to my purchase.

Yes. Still have Verizon's unlimited on both our iPhones. Not changing anytime soon.

No, but I've had a smartphone without a data plan since before the rule that required a data plan for all smartphones.

5+ years without voice and texts only, and I'm perfectly satisfied.

I still have an unlimited data plan on my AT&T iPhone. Although I've never exceeded 2GB of usage in a month, so there might be a benefit to moving down to the $25 for 2GB plans but it is no longer available anyways.

Apart from having 600 mins, I have the same package in the UK and yet it only costs me £25/$40 a month.

Why is it so expensive in the US?

Yeah; but it only moves at 300kbps...

Well Verizon's 4G LTE service provides for me atleast around 13mbps of download speed. Which is very handy for downloading...just about anything.

Not for long. Sprint is ditching Wimax-based 4G in favor of LTE.
