Sad to read about this. I had no idea he was 71 years old either.
I love rocking out to my quadraphonic 8track of Machine Head.

R.I.P. John Lord.

Oh that sucks.

Pancreatic cancer is the worst.

I will listen to some Deep Purple today in commemoration.

R.I.P. My favourite song is "Perfect Strangers". I love the way he played the keyboards in that song. Also a very nice video showing how the song was produced. Unfortunately I cannot watch it here in Germany but only if I am abroad.

Smoke on the water
and fire in the sky

I remember the first Deep Purple days...
bought the LP with their faces cut in stone

I saw them on stage way back when... in the early 70's... the best days

RIP to a keyboard great. Most people wouldn't realize that the "heavy metal organ" sound in GarageBand and on pretty much all other digital keyboards/software is an attempt to recreate Jon lord's signature b3/Leslie/Marshall sound. I've been playing "child in time" on my GarageBand organ all morning.
